Re: What is a good workshop?

Stewart, Good for you. I'm a beginner too, but in a workshop 14' x 19'. I find it adequate, but would like more space. I don't have much advice, but the advice I got from others which is the most important, is to build right next to where you live. If your workshop's even only 5 minutes away, you wo...

VHF Comm Aerial - No longer needed!

The title says it all. Wanted for a panel mounted radio such as a Becker 4201. To be installed inside the fuselage.

Antenna now found and installation almost completed. Thanks.

Nick,

The Mikron I have was priced in Euros at 8,940 plus VAT. This included mags, carb etc but not an electric boot. The Sterling price would of course be reflected in the current exchange rate.

Cheers,
Dave

I've delayed my reply, waiting for a delivery result, which I now have. John, thanks for the suggestion. I'd now recommend Unifreight to others, being the proud possessor of a shiny new engine. I am well impressed with Parma Technik in the Czech Republic and if anyone is interested in a Mikron, I'd ...

My new engine will be ready for delivery in the next couple of weeks. Is anyone on the forum involved in transport able to recommend a solution to shipping the crate here? Weight is about 110kg, size L1000 x H700 x W600mm. I have been quoted a price from the factory, but would just like to explore o...

Has anyone got a copy of Eric Clutton's 'Propeller Making for the Amateur' I can borrow?
Thanks,

Thanks for the replies. The fuselage is 1mm ply skin all over, to be covered with fabric and my inspector is happy with the proposal. I will discuss with him again, just to be sure!

How Big?

I'm about to cut holes in the bottom of my fuselage for aluminium snap-in circular inspection covers. Can anyone please confirm that the hole should be 2" radius? I'm assuming a purchase of covers from LAS...

Blimey Nigel... with a list of toys as long as yours (including a very smart boat), I'd have thought you'd be able to keep going for quite a long time! :D

Hmm. OK, not much response here then!

I have ordered my engine, which should be delivered in 6 months time. If anyone has a vague interest in following the same route, I'd be happy to advise as I go along.

Cheers,
Dave

Free - Popular Flying magazines

33 copies of the old PF mag, various dates between 1994 and 1999. Free to anyone interested enough to collect. If you're after a specific date and it's in the pile, I'd be happy to send out single copies.

I am in the initial phase of buying a new Mikron III from the Czech Republic and have received a copy of Parma-Technik's contract for selling me same. Does anyone have recent experience of importing one of these engines? I'd be interested to hear any comments on their experience, with buying, import...

I haven't seen the DHSL article and I personally, I can't believe there's an easy cure for any engine problem! I have had the same problem with my engine, albeit a Gipsy Major 1H. Oil on the windscreen would indicate it coming from a pressurised crankcase and finding its way out through the prop sha...
