Re: Documents to be carried.
None. ANO 2016 Schedule 10 contains the document carriage requirements. From summary here for non-EASA aircraft: http://www.caa.co.uk/Blog-Posts/The-revised-Air-Navigation-Order/ Schedule 10 covers document carriage requirements. For non-EASA aircraft on operations other than public transport, there...

Re: Medical self-declaration
Hi John, I've spent a few evenings compiling an article which should appear in this month's Light Aviation and will hopefully answer most questions about the new self-declaration which replaces the NPPL Medical Declaration. EASA licences and national licences (UK PPL and NPPL) can be validated with ...

Re: EASA Part NCO and Carriage of PLB and ELT Equipment
Part-NCO was implemented in EASA states during 2013. The UK CAA have already applied the maximum derogation permitted up to August 2016, so a further exemption to this is unlikely. LAA Permit to Fly aircraft will be required to comply with the requirements of the ANO, and not Part-NCO. The ANO Revie...

Re: Coaching Scheme
Given our previous correspondence via e-mail, it's a little disingenuous to attack me personally Steve. I have deliberately refused to insult or point fingers because I as I have said appreciate those who help voluntarily. I would ask that no one post anything that could be construed as such. Chris'...

Re: Coaching Scheme
Steve, Two of our coaches ( 1 )( 2 ) are CAA Senior Examiners and Flight Instructor Examiners who have extensive experience of training and testing instructors and examiners, so we are well placed to make such an assessment. Where a pilot applies to become a coach and already holds an instructor cer...

Re: Coaching Scheme
Every time I meet up with GASCo at an event we discuss the possibility of putting the report into the public domain now that it is no longer likely to generate sales Brian, you will know that I'm involved with GASCo as one of their Regional Safety Officers and presenters of GASCo Safety Evenings de...

Re: Coaching Scheme
The spin/no spin training argument has been going on since they altered the syllabus many years ago. Whilst there is no full spin training in the PPL syllabus, there is still incipient spinning (Exercise 11: Spin Avoidance). This is also a required item on the CRI and FI Assessment of Competence. F...

More to the point, are so far those they've jumped on been BMAA or LAA etc. members ? - who one hopes are diligent enough to check notaminfo.com and/or other simple on-line devices (all free). We have provided support, guidance, and training, to a number of LAA members over recent years who have fo...

Re: Coaching Scheme
Thank you Brian and Steve for your comments and feedback. My solution would be for the PCS to embrace the CRIs, not see them as the opposition. The more specialised talents of the PCS coaches could so easily be used to run seminars for CRIs to improve their skills and training methods You will be aw...

Re: How to become an LAA Inspector?
The LAA Pilot Coaching Scheme is run by a small number of volunteers for the benefit of our members. Re: pilot coach biennial issues
For a pilot who has never instructed before, to obtain a Class Rating Instructor certificate at a commercial training organisation, the pilot must complete a Class Rating Instructor course which costs approximately £1,400 - £1,600. Then the applicant will need to complete a test (Assessment of Compe...

Re: pilot coach biennial issues
Phil,
Please can you contact me with details. All coaches hold a EASA CRI or FI certificate. However, there is no course which a LAA coach would have to do to maintain an instructor certificate costing anywhere near that much.
Kind regards,
Jon
