Ian,
I haven't tried this new brand but we've used a non-setting chromate based jointing compound - JC5A (available from Light Aero Spares) which would obviate problems with later maintenance.
Best wishes,
Harry

Re: Rally Slots
Frank, Many, many thanks for your prompt and full reply - all very useful. I've spoken to Arthur and will speak to him again. You'll appreciate that small scraps of information all help to complete the picture. Arthur told me he had a lot of early documentation but no one at the time showed any inte...

Re: Rally Slots
Good morning Frank, Good to hear from you and I trust you're wel and enjoying life in the US of A. I'm taking the liberty of replying on behalf of our Rally Committee who may well be a bit busy. ATC for the Rally is now in the hands of Sywell and hence out of our control. I believe the slot system i...

B&Q sell clear plastic tube, in various sizes, together with T-pieces, right angle bends and in-line joiners. We used these to refitt he plumbling on an RV (I think we used the 5mm size).

Re: Varga Kachina Transfer to Permit
I suggest you speak to LAA Engineering on Monday. If there's already one Varga on permit I'm sure they will welcome adding yours to the permit fleet.
Best wishes and happy landings,

Re: Advice sought on group fuel usage
Richard, Our group calculates (and regularly adjusts as fuel prices change) a wet rate to include all consumables: e.g. fuel; oil; filters; tyres; brake pads; etc. To this we add an element for eventual engine replacement so that we build up a fund which it is hoped and planned will provide capital ...

Re: Wanted for Turbulent Project
Hello Ken I tried to email you but my message rebounded. I have 2 alts available, one of which is an unknown quantity at the moment, but I could have it tested by Robin Morton if needed. It’s a 3 needle job with the Air Ministry’s broad arrow on the rear of the case but no maker’s name. It’s marked ...

Re: RV 9 import from the States
Kevin, I've since discovered there's an LAA technical leaflet on this subject at: http://www.lightaircraftassociation.co.uk/engineering/TechnicalLeaflets/Building,%20Buying%20or%20Importing/TL%201.06%20Imported%20Aircraft.pdf It's on this web site but I had to use the search function to find it. The shipping part is easy as there are several companies who can pack an RV into a container. An LAA is required (he didn’t tell me its title but the Eng staf...
