Thanks Brian. That seems like something I may be able to cope with.

Re: Farnborough Controlled Airspace
Thanks for your suggested course of action Tom and I'll try responding using that method. I doubt I have the patience or time left to cope with the rest of the contrived nonsense thrown at us in these situations. If we were able to respond by way of a "petition", endorsing the official LAA line, the...

Re: Push rod ends: UK suppliers
This had occurred to me in this case & with other aspects, but I guess the designer may well have used what was easily available to him at that time. I understand Don Wolf was the training Director at Grumman for much of his working life, and his wife was the personal assistant to Roy Grumman, so he...

Re: Push rod ends: UK suppliers
Thanks Paul - I'm extremely grateful to you for your help with this. My push rod is exactly the same material as the RV and the arrangement at the aileron end is very similar. Interesting that the bore is 3/16" and this may make it easier and cheaper for me, if the smaller size could be approved. Th...

Re: Push rod ends: UK suppliers
Many thanks Paul and if you are able to confirm the rod end fitting on the RV10, that would be reassuring.
It seems that the small rivets are likely to be adequate if used on an RV.

Re: Push rod ends: UK suppliers
Thanks Paul and I had discounted that one because of the cost, for the time being. Seems to have an "M" suffix to the part number - magnafluxed I assume and maybe that bumps up the price a bit. I have just noticed that there is a very similar version available from LAS at half the price with a 5/16"...

Push rod ends: UK suppliers
I need some rod ends for the aileron push rods on my project. The exact part numbers shown on the drawings (Fafnir RE 43 10 and "Uniball" F45-19 for the aileron end ) don't appear to be available now from the usual sources in the USA or the U.K. Both ends need to have a 1/4"D hole in the "ball" end....

Re: Building advice sought
Aircraft Spruce have always been very helpful to me, but I would agree with the previous comments about cap strip material. Mine was bought many years ago and the quality of the spruce happened to be acceptable, although it was roughly sawn and I wasted much time planing it to size, to fit my partic...

Magneto toggle switch: Acceptable types & ratings
Could anyone advise me what type of toggle switches would be acceptable for use as magneto switches and where to find these and recognize them as being OK for aircraft use? I already have a pair in my panel and wish to make sure they are up to snuff. I would prefer to use toggle switches rather than...

Re: Importing from US: End Use Relief procedures.
Many thanks Harry & I'll note the phraseology for the supplier/vendor to use on their customs form.
I think I now have the correct code - these are available on the customs webpage(s) and I've also confirmed with customs by phone.

Importing from US: End Use Relief procedures.
I have bought a second hand item for my engine from the States and this has been dispatched by the vendor. Value is around £170 plus p&p,VAT etc. I had an End Use number many years ago, but this has long since expired and the procedure is different now, anyway. Has anyone recent experience of comple...

Re: Drilling hole in HT bolt...help!
Slowing the drilling speed right down seems to help with hard materials/slightly blunt drills.
There is a sweet "spot"/speed at which the drill appears to bite more willingly - but you may well already know this.
