Re: Red tape: Hi-vis and PPR by telephone

Having lived and flown in the USA for the last forty years, I find the whole idea of PPR incredible. I can fly into most airports in the USA with no more than a call to approach. My home airport of KHWO is a good example, Several flight schools, including helicopters, active banner towing operations...

Don Peacock

I just heard from Stuart McKay that Don passed away on January 15, funeral is on Wednesday. Don was a friend for many years, a PFA committee member, a Luton Minor builder and of course the supplier of VW engine conversion drawings. He will be greatly missed by his many friends, and I am sure that we...

Re: Looking for an Airstrip In Somerset??

When I was very young my father took me on a visit to the place he worked in Yeovil. They had a nice grass airfield with a lot of open cockpit biplanes parked outside and in the hangars. We couldn't go into one hangar as there was a new top secret aircraft in there, called a Lysander!!

Re: GREAT NORTH FLY IN VIDEO

Bob, I enjoyed the video, great to see such a mix of aircraft of the sort that I do not see living as I do under Miami's Class B airspace. But can you expand on the hammer and sickle flag, odd overseas military uniforms? I do hope no one was on the wrong end of that large caliber weapon on the truck...

I would find it of interest IF it were possible to register! It come up with a strange box asking for an answer when no question has been posed. What sort of idiot come up with things like that!

Re: Farnborough Airspace Grab

And to think that I used to tow gliders there on a week end n a non-radio Tiger Moth forty five years ago! Having lived for many years in the USA, I have only ever paid a landing fee once, at Republic on Long Island, a whopping five dollars! The idea of a five hundred pound landing fee is outrageous.

Re: Are we a bunch of Old Farts?

Only just read this thread. Here in the USA I recently joined an organization known as the UFOs, standing for United Flying Octogenarians. The first fly in that I attended at Lakeland (Home of Sun n' Fun) was attended by 39 pilots over 80! The requirement to be a member is to have piloted an aircraf...

Re: UK Licence with Medical Declaration

Ian appears to have summed up the situation nicely! Once beaurocrats beome involved the complexities will increase. What a pity the clock cannot be turned back fifty years, how simple it all was back then! Living now in the USA and flying with an FAA license, I am glad that I do not have to cope wit...
