This is very nostalgic for me. In 1972 I was able to borrow Norman Jones' personal Condor from the Tiger Club, and flew it to the RSA rally at Cambrai, with Dave Faulkner Bryant in the right hand seat. The late Harold Devereaux was there, and introduced me to Mme. Druine, the widow of the designer R...

Has anyone seen any statisics that show the number of downed aircraft located by their ELT, and not by some other means? It was of no help to Steve Fossett after he was lost, and remains lost, in the desert. One cannot argue with the good intentions of having to carry an ELT, but has it demonstrated...

There is a relationship between airspeed, RPM, engine power and prop pitch. You may change the prop pitch and maintain the same RPM with both settings using different throttle settings, but the power developed will be different. Unless you have some way of estimating the power produced you really ha...

Digikey in the USA (www.digikey.com) have those connectors (and probably the housings), but they come in a package of 100, $30.33 for that quantity. It is an expensive gold plated part.

There have been reports that certain Narco radio IF stages can interfere with the local oscillator in older GPS units, and also reports of re-radiation from ELT units, which cause the GPS to lose signal. I suppose that it is possible that the reverse may happen, and the local oscillator in the GPS i...

I had a problem with my ancient AK30 when an avionics shop adjusted it without giving it time to warm up. I was told by the shop that corrected it that it needs to be allowed to warm up before being adjusted. And guess what, after the incorrect adjustment, it read 500 feet high! That may be coincide...

If this is a new T&B which is producing EMI, then you should contact the vendor and the manufacturer and notify them of the product defect. I am sure that neither of them want to sell a product that is unsatisfactory. EMI generation would not normally be tested in a production environment, but it sh...

I am sure that an EMI filter would help, but if the noise is that much of a problem it sounds as if the T&B is on it's way out and should go in for an overhaul.
