The Drone was not exactly a speed demon. Allowing for en-route stops, the flight distance to Berlin had to be at least 600 statute miles. Assuming an actual over the ground speed of 50mph, that would be a flight time of 12 hours, consuming 6.67 Imperial gallons of petrol assuming Ron's figures for f...

So how many gallons of petrol would fifteen shillings purchase in 1936? That would have been about 20% of the average weekly pay back then, I imagine. I remember seein G-AEKV fly into White Waltham in the late 50's. It seemed to take forever to make it into the circuit pattern as one could hear the ...

Time Reported in the Forum Index

Having just opened up the Forum index, I see the time reported as 10:26PM. My local time is 1:26PM here in Florida, and we usually have a five hour time difference, not nine. Has the web site been outsourced somewhere out east, or does the server clock need resetting?

In the USA the push is towards ADS-B, which does not need a radar system to function. A ten year implementation time period is projected for this. Was any mention made of this alternate to Mode S? If ADS-B is to be the internationally accepted system in the not too distant future, it seems that requ...

I have a similar problem in that my home PC requires me to log in TWICE before I am recognised! My machine at work logs me in automatically. The All Weather Map forum website logs me in automatically on both computers. I don't recollect any problems with the old BB.

Roy Watling Greenwood was (is?) a superb craftsman! His Turbulent was a work of art. If the present owner of the patterns makes props as well as Roy, then you will very happy.

When I turned 40 I was told that I had very good vision, the accomodation power of a twelve year old. Now I cannot manage without my Varilux lenses! They do take a little getting used to, and have a smaller lateral in-focus field of view than bi or tri-focals, but they work for me. I have frames wit...

I am not sure what are the current rules regarding groups, but would it not make sense to ask a group for a subscription that would include all group members as associate or group members of the LAA? No magazine for the individual group members, just one for the group. An alternate class of membersh...

I find that when I am using my office computer, I am automatically logged in, but I suspect that my virus/anti-everthing program must be deleting the required cookie.

Odd, it's working fine with my office machine but not at home, so it might be something to do with the handling of cookies.
