The obvious answer is to buy a Northern chart and enjoy the hospitality they are renowned for 'oop North'.
We could even visit Wales and Scotland - they were also part of the 'British Bulldog' mentality. If we're talking of spirit, we definitely must include the scotch!

The BGA told us about a Junior membership scheme at the first Youth Aviation Education Conference, and that it gave reduced cost gliding. Maybe that's changed since. As far as ET is concerned, it was set up mainly to address the youth education aspects of flying, and receive charitable donations, th...

RAeS/Boeing Build a Plane Challenge
I'm helping with the new Rans S6 project in Bristol, fittingly being built on the former site of the old Whitchurch Aerodrome, but having a hard job getting others who are prepared to help supervise the build team. If you are at all interested and preferably have some experience of home-building, th...

There does not appear to be an LAA solution acceptable to the board, or I am confident they would have found it. The problem is basically the LAA does not have the resources to accept the risk. The fact the Scout Association can accept the risk is based on their huge size, since they self-insure, an...

That's very kind, but a full translation would be a lot of work. I'm not sure if a summary would be easy without leaving out a lot. We could do with one of those translators who works in the European Parliament to record an English commentary - at least some of our money would have been well spent. ...

Proposed Changes to Low Flying Rules
We've raised various anomalies in CAA laws and regulations previously, but I'm puzzled by aspects raised in the article in the latest LAA Magazine. It deals with approaches over congested areas, and while the change proposed concerns removing a relaxation introduced for training at unlicensed airfie...

Looking through some old EAA Sport Aviation magazines, I found a note about using transparent laser-printed adhesive labels. Obviously you have to have a light not dark panel for that to work, so it might not be appropriate for you, but it's another idea. I have some aluminium ("silver") ones from A...

I also noted the 'cheap to operate' - Roger's response to my observation was a wry grin. I suspect the main hope is that the car industry will provide the means to develop battery technology further, but in this recent cold weather, I imagine those with electric cars in the UK will have been staying...

They've obviously found the back door to phpBB now - my own car club forum is getting sporadic clothing offers - but we haven't got any sporads to benefit from it. At least we haven't had the gratuitous porn pictures yet. I've just had an email offering upgrades to a secure version 3.0.8, so I guess...

That's an excellent intro to electric aircraft - Ian gave it to the Bristol Strut a while ago. If you visited the Flying Show last weekend, you may have seen that Roger Target had his electric air-racer project there on display. http://www.flyers.org.uk/News/RebelRacer.jpg http://www.flyers.org.uk/N...
