Re: Tracey Curtis-Taylor
Crikey - you are bearing a heavy burden - all we want to do is fly and have fun. I think the majority have better things to do than berate fellow pilots. I hope you are able to get the support you deserve for your bandwagon - I doubt it somehow Good Luck. Nearly forgot: Rand KR2 builder/pilot Colin ...

Re: Tracey Curtis-Taylor
But the trophy isnt awarded for "solo flight". Its for ( I think ) a meritorious or adventurous flight. As far as I can see what she did on that trip - with or without assistance from co-pilots or fixers on the ground, she still flew it. As I said if it had been awarded this year for a Solo flight -...

Re: Tracey Curtis-Taylor
Sounds like overcomplication and someone with an axe to grind. The flight to (was it Africa) was an adventurous and meritorias flight whatever mode of Nav was used. How many people do you know still navigating with a sextand, a stopwatch and a grease pen. I think the LAA has moved with the times and...

Re: Tracey Curtis-Taylor
I believe you will find that the trophy is no longer in her possession. As is usual, she only held it for one year after being presented with it in 2014. Forgive my ignorance, but why is everyone so upset at her recent flight being "Non Solo" if this trophy was presented in 2014. I could understand...

Re: Medical self-declaration
I think (as was explained to me) that you can continue to fly the Club 152 up to April 2018 on the declaration and a poo brown licence in UK airspace. What is really needed is acceptance of this self declaration by the EASA gods, then we could continue to fly the Club 152 ( or other EASA types) afte...

Re: Medical self-declaration
Thankyou Jon - that sets my mind at rest, I thought I was going to have to get a LAPL earlier than April 2018.
So all we need to do now is get Europe to recognise the Self Dec so we can fly to France etc and that would be the icing on the cake.

Re: Medical self-declaration
Ok - so now we have the new self declaration in sight - I see that there is a form on CAA website to fill in on-line and submit, http://publicapps.caa.co.uk/modalapplication.aspx?catid=1&pagetype=65&appid=11&mode=form%20&id=7493 does anyone understand how it affects someone (me) with:- Permit Aircra...

Re: Medical self-declaration
Please read all the words, and particularly those after item G, ie "that might impair the safe operation of normal flight controls or render the licence holder unfit at any time to perform any function for which the licence is granted." Might your tonsillectomy impair the safe operation.....etc"? I...

Surely d) must rule out 99% of the population. Who has never had some medical treatment or other. Am I disqualified because I had my tonsils out when a lad, or if I visit the dentist, or hurt my finger and need an Xray. It seems a bit vague in this respect.

Gardan Horizon --- 1st Permit to Fly Issued
I am pleased to say that after considerable effort that the First Permit to Fly has now been issued. Phew ! At long last after much lobbying (and moaning) about the Orphan status of the GY80 and the efforts of the LAA, the first Permit is now its way to me in the post, so with any luck and a nice We...

Re: EV97A Permit Renewal
You were lucky.... Try the recent permit route I have had to take to get the Gardan Horizon a PtF. You pay £700 to EASA to agree the flight conditions which, apart from the change to Day VFR Only, were all written up in 1960 when the first ones were made, for them to pass that to CAA for their appro...

CAA PMR Authorisation and LAA approval number - GY80 Permit
Just got in and am trying to fill out a CAA application for a permit to fly and the last 2 questions on the form are:- "Enter CAA Permit Maintenance Release (PMR) Authorisation Number * "Enter Approval number *" Of course the office is closed and wondered if anyone else had a clue as to what these n...
