Nigel, That's what I was aiming at - landing vouchers in OUR monthly magazine. It could lead to quite a few fly-ins and would help promote the Association, especially if there is a flying school on site where non members are into learning to fly. Maybe just one or two vouchers per month to help "con...

Free Landing Coupons.

How does the system work with "Flyer" magazine free landing coupons for selected airfields in their monthly periodical - who pays ? If the airfields promote this (for free ?) as a method of attracting future visiting aircraft, can the LAA take on a similar activity for Association aircraft only.

'Struth, I didn't know that all the world airlines are still using aeronautical charts and star navigational systems !! It would appear that if the CAA were responsible for marine administration, ships would still be using sextants and such like. I think my "Skyforce Locator" may be beyond repair. W...

My Garmin 12XL switches itself off if I put it near the ignition switch. Works ok if I strap it on my knee.

Jetstream aircraft that fly in and out of Wick have vortex generators inboard and outboard of the engines. They are placed forward on the wing chord.

I notice that the "Over The Hedge " section has adopted the photo of the Cub clearing a hedge to land that apeared in an artice a couple of months or so back. There is something about that photo that says it all about our type of flying.

I notice in the Feb 08 magazine that the Thatcher CX-4 is now approved for build by the LAA - they kept that quiet. Although it looks a bit like VP1 with all the sharp corners removed it looks the "bees knees" and apparently is cheap and simple to build with good performance. I would seriously have ...

Since the choice of lightweight tailwheels has been explored, can I highjack this forum and enquire about main u/c wheels. Are there any foam tyred wheels about - something about the size of those battery powered scooters that you see pensioners hurtling about on. This for the SSDR construction.

If, say, for whatever reason the one LAA member of a group dropped out of the association, does the LAA have the right to reject the membership application of the next group member. The "rebel" group owners could end up being lumbered with a non permitted aircraft and have difficulty in selling it on.

Simon. Sailing is not a passtime that I am interested in. However, I did watch the "Three men in a Boat" programme and was chewing my knuckles in anger at their incompetence and stupidity. I had to watch something else. God help us if the general public see amateur aviators in a similar vein. Anyway...

I note the "Star letter" in the Loop edition that arrived today gave the LAA a thorough lambasting regarding the name change. He obviously has a real gripe against the association. As an aside, does anyone know what effect the TV programme - "Build A Plane" had on membership numbers. Did it attract ...

Welshman, Well it's been done before - project or parts of it taken to the inspector, I mean. Why can't you go and pick up your inspector then and put him up for the night somewhere. It's not his fault or the Association's that you have chosen to live where you live. The days of getting something fo...

Jamie, Could I point you in the direction of the LA magazine again. There is a section alongside the Strut listing of many type enthusiast co-ordinators. Yours, as you have discovered, is Phil Brookman, not only a builder, but it seems he runs the KR2 group newsletter. There has been many a gripe ab...
