Re: Availability of Aerowave 2001

Thanks Mike,
I am going to try some, but note that you need positive pressure clean air feed to your mask. This may put off quite a few people.

Do you have a reccomended mask?

Re: Availability of Aerowave 2001

Mike, can you clarify which Tetrosyl product you are talking about? They seem to do 1 part Etch Primer 1 Part Etch primer that requires 'Activated Thinner' 2k Etch Primer Depending on where you look they are described differently, but are possibly all the same product. Stock also seems to be an issue.

Re: Can you do your own maintenance on own engine

Sounds like you will be over qualified for most tasks :D I am assuming LAA permit aircraft? Yes you can, but it is all done under your LAA inspectors ticket. So the first call to make is to him and agree what he will authorise you to do.

Re: Electronic tacho

Unlikley to be connected to the alternator as that has nothing to indicate the engines rotational speed. Magneto, as John says is a posibility. The alternative, using a sensor may just be the sensing wire(Black) wrapped several turns around an ignition lead. I have a small digital tacho/hobbs type m...

Re: Aircraft 'Painting'?

You still need to have a near perfect finish to lay the wrap on. I somehow doubt it is a quater of a good paint job when that is taken into consideration.
I have no experiance myself, but there have been a quite a few light aircraft done from reports in the press.

Re: BTH to electronic?

I haven't got a clue what a BTH system is. Use of TLSs without expanding them on first use should be banned. :)

I though E-Mags(and P-Mags) and similar systems were quite common?

Re: Rotax 914 Electrical Diagram

Hi Luscoble, See my responses in blue. Cheers Ian I hope someone can help me to understand the Wiring Diagram on page 3, section 24-00-00 of the Rotax 914 August 01 2019 Installation manual. I am installing this engine without the external alternator. Here goes: 1.Where does the master switch (34) g...

Re: WANTED: Metalworking tools

Not having heard of the type before, I wondered if there was a Thorp connection due to the S18 (rather than the Shorts product :-))
How do they differ?

Re: IMC/Night approvals.

I am confused now, I thought that it was likely that aircraft under 60Kg/m2 would not be approved due to the fact they are affected by gusts. Your quote from TL 2.27 says the opposite. Quoting from LAA today Jan 2017 This list will be reviewed and updated from time to time, but it is unlikely that L...

Re: FUEL FLOAT VARNISH

The varnish used is not ethanol proof, so I replaced my float with an ethanol proof replacement. As I have a Vagabond they are Ford Model A parts, and available for vintage cars. Though we have no immediate plans in our group to use fuel with ethanol content, I have been slowly replacing all seals a...

Possibly because the repeat mod is a recent addition. Previous owners not having the option for a repeat mod.

Re: Learning - Fabric - Help!?

Stephen, Page 2 of the Ceconite manual shows the PMA stamp that is on their fabric each yard. Obviously you will need to remove the existing cover to find the stamp. There is a risk that the rudder may miss all the stamps, but you may see it elsewhere eg, through wing inspection hole. Not seen one b...
