Re: Turbocad
I'm working in 3D. I was pretty certain the object when in metal would be right but checked with the makers of Turbocad. They said it did alter the finished result as to how many facets you used. However I was pretty certain this was an IT response ;-) Sadly I've yet to meet an IT expert who relates...

Turbocad
I've been playing round with Turbocad with the intention of making a crankshaft eventually. It's the V18 deluxe. The snag is it looks as if when you start a solid say a journal if you don't select the maximum number of what they call approximation lines when you go to the real world it will try and ...

Re: Petrol damage to screens
I had loads of grief with windscreens on my MW6 and tried Petg. It's not as strong as Macrolan as I found out when the screen failed on take off! OK it was unsupported at the top but the macrolan was as well. So take care folks, not all plastics are equal.

Dropped seats
If anyone has a problem with Gipsy Major exhaust seats that have come loose please PM me. I have a source of getting these replaced. The cost is £300 which is a shed load less than an exchange head from Deltair (£1400!) The work is superb and he's done Jabs as well.

Re: History Channel
I'm trying to get the program as VOD so I can get a still of it. The only addition I can offer is 1 engine was above the other. If they hadn't started separately I'd have thought it was an H configuration.

Re: History Channel
Nope it was 2 separate engines for sure as 1 started up with 1 prop going and then the second engine with it's own prop. Flat engines for certain but can't be sure they were 12s Might even have been 8s. Don't forget guys its coaxial contra prop we're looking for

History Channel
I was watching a program on the ATA and there was a momentary shot of an aircraft starting up. They can be a bit casual on their footage so I wouldn't be too sure it was British but here's the rub. It was coaxial contra prop and the engines drove the props independently. When one engine started only...

Re: Icom A6E
To confirm the power is supply is earthed and it all works with both the rubber duck aerial and the aircraft aerial. The outer screen is to a ground plane on the aerial base and it all works very well. Good quality ferrite suppressors are fitted on all leads to good effect.

Re: Icom A6E
I've tested it with both the rubber duck and the aircraft external aerial so that will have provided an earth to the Icom when connected. The way I've wired it the neg on the regulator will earth the neg of the Icom and it all works happily.

The regulator is http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171257761169?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT. You need to able to solder 2 wires on the input, 2 wires and a plug on the output which are clearly marked. Find your own box to put it in ;-) The adjuster pot works as advertised and ...

Re: Icom A6E
Well the 2.85 power regulator works a treat so without having tried a Yuasu unit I have to say I'd go with this setup again. Beats a £1500 panel mount for certain

If anyone is thinking of using these in their aircraft to go 8.33 there are 2 possible snags. Firstly people can have howl round problems on TX via the PTT leads. This one is easily fixed with some ferrite beads which simply clamp on. The second snag is it will only accept 11v as an external source ...

I've had a quote from these guys which is a fair bit less than my usual company. Has anyone used them and would care to comment on how good they are. I'm always a bit cautious about the cheapest of anything

MW6 bits
I'm having a garage clearout and found a set of MW6 tai feathers in the roof. One taiplane is complete, the other needs the D box ply. The rudder is a bit tatty and there's a damaged aileron. Free to a good home as they say Buyer collects from Romford.
