Re: MORE STOLEN ROTAX ENGINES
I realised how short the range was just after I posted! A case of read the headline, not the tech ;-( Anyone here know about the mobile phone based alarms you can get? I realise lack of mains power is a problem at many airfield but a solar cell and a big battery may work. Keeping your head down and ...

Re: Tracey Curtis Taylor - separation truth and talk
The so called passenger was in fact the owner of the aircraft I gather and has a lot of hours on type. How much of this so called SOLO trip only had her in the cockpit?

Grease is the word....
My Auster has the old style grease nipples on the U/C bolts. These need a Buttonhead grease gun coupler and I think these are about 1/4 or maybe 3/16. ( Forgot to take my Vernier last time I was at the airfield.) Has anyone got a source for one of these? I tried ebay but the only one I could see was...

Good news and Bad news.
The good news was I received an invitation to the Cranfield 70th celebration yesterday. The bad news it was my aircraft known as Amy who got the invitation! Apparently she’s the last aircraft of their original fleet still flying. I wonder if she’ll take me?

B.A.
I've acquired a lot of BA sockets and have arranged them as sets ranging from 0 to 10 BA including the odd sizes. If anyone into old British aircraft needs any I'm doing them for £5 a set inc p+p. All the profits IE everything except the postage goes to the local dogs home. PM me if you want any.

On the pull ;-)
Way back when while learning to fly I was told not to pull an aircraft on the ground by the prop. This wasn't to protect the prop but in case the mag switch was faulty or on and the impulse mag fired spoiling your day! I thought this was under HSE legislation but a very qualified chap tells me this ...

Re: Complying with the letter of the law
I totally agree about small letters. It was the fact they were too bold and done by an approved organisation that annoyed him. The specs are as you say clear and reasonable. I don't know how the other aircraft at Cranfield were non compliant.

Re: Complying with the letter of the law
What annoyed my friend was he'd paid a CAA approved maintenance company to do the letters and it had been inspected and passed by the CAA afterwards. They didn't complain the letters were hard to see, being black on white, they were too big!

Complying with the letter of the law
The CAA are having a binge on registration letters. If you read the document on these, all 14 pages of it, you will understand that this is not an easy subject. At least 6 people so far have had correspondence ordering them to comply with the regs. So if you see 2 guys in suits hanging around and li...

SIMMS COUPLING
I've had a simms coupling shear on a Gipsy Major due to a pre-existing crack from the witness marks on it. The mag had not jammed on the engine wasn't shock loaded. Has anyone else had this as even Simon Westley hasn't heard of it and he's been round the circuit a few times;-)
