Have a look at http://www.tridentracing.co.uk/
They are at Silverstone and mostly supply to motor sport, but might have what you're after.

Re: shipping agents from the US to UK??
Big Misters are no longer on the scene following some controversy over VAT payments.
I had a quote from these people at about $10/cu.ft port to port. They can also arrange ground transport at the US end and import brokers on arrival.

Re: shipping agents from the US to UK??
There are hundreds of shipping agents and consolidators in the US. Expect to pay $10-20 per cu.ft for shipping plus VAT, duty and ground transport either end for a minimum of 40-50 cu.ft.

Re: Source for Plexus
You could try Motor cycle dealers, as it's popular on helmet visors.
Also worth considering Autoglym Fast Glass as it works well and is safe on polycarbonate and acrylic and also is a non-pressurised container, so safer on board.

Re: Januarys cover
I guess it's the 'rolling shutter' effect as the camera sensor scans the image a line at a time. If it's scanning left to right the effect would be to compress something moving right to left and stretch something moving left to right. You got a similar effect on SLR film cameras due to the moving sl...

Re: c90 fuel pump fittings
Assuming that the elbow fitting is a standard AN pipe thread, then you should tighten it finger tight and torque a further 2-3 turns to get alignment (-6 and -8 fittings). I would apply 'Fuel Lube' or 'EZ Turn' to the threads as an anti-sieze on the male thread, avoiding the end few threads. Avoid b...

Re: Instrument requirements
Did the LAA actually say they must be mechanical? I've not personally asked (yet). There isn't an LAA TL on the subject and CS-VLA does not seem to exclude electronic instruments. For a VFR aircraft, losing instruments due to electrical failure is undesirable, but not critical. I suspect that they ...

Re: Instrument requirements
If you want ultra light weight electronic instruments, take a look at Belite.
I suspect that the LAA may require purely mechanical instruments to meet the minimum requirements.
That is currently the case for people with expensive EFIS set-ups even though they have battery back-ups.

Re: vw 1834 oil pressure
You should never use aviation oil in a VW. Limbach explicitly say "under no circumstances". I don't know if that is the cause of your problem, but I suggest draining and flushing all the oil and re-filling with the correct grade of automotive oil. Then check the engine on the ground to see if it has...

Belt driven compressors are generally a lot quieter. Consider putting it in an out building or shed or make an outdoor acoustic enclosure and run the hose to your workshop. But don't forget to drain the tank purge valve regularly. You're rarely using an air drill continuously, usually just a few sec...
