Moving wings

I'm hoping to be in a position to move a pair of Champ wings soon. The first thought of borrowing a glider trailer was scuppered by the realisation that the wing roots are somewhat wider than most gliders'. Before I bite the bullet and hire a flat bed trailer and then plan the packing, has anyone an...

Richard W posted this elsewhere and says I can paste it here. I think it answers the needs of us strippers..... :D I’ve just had a very pleasant chat with the guy on the Swanwick help desk. For those of us humble folks who don’t go vast distances in to the Continent on our initial sector, CAP 550 lo...

A request on behalf of some friends who are not internet savvy/connected/bovvered. Please could the use of dark backgrounds be limited to matters of pictures only? Many of us/them have difficulty reading the fine words that could be enjoyed so much more were they black on white. On behalf of the age...

To register as an End User?

Amngst the restorers here, has anyone registered with HMCR as an End User when importing chunks of aeroplane?

I shall inevitably be buying some large, non-secretable bits to get the Champ rebuilt and wonder if this is a useful route.

I tried to get my stand-alone FAA Certificate updated (the $2 version as I believe), but the website resolutely refuses to let me do this, perhaps because it sees the UK address ..?

Is anyone else in that situation or has anyone an answer before I enter into comms with them?

Thanks!

One notifies the CAA, which reissues the paperwork to the new owner. Money changes hands. That's to say, money is given to the CAA who use about 2% on the paperwork and justify the rest in telling one how long it took to process the paperwork. Something like that. It's actually one of the easiest pr...

Get hold of a copy of Country Flying by Geoffrey Farr. It's old, but very much still useful and has been recommended to others asking similar questions. There was a thread on another forum that I can't find, but if I do I'll post a link.

This thread is so tucked away I nearly missed it.

On the basis that others may have missed it too, perhaps you could post a link further up the chain. I'm sure the more opinionated will be pleased to suggest topics.

I'm thinking, so bear with me. It takes a long time.

This subject was in P.lot a year or so ago. Our local paper also picked up on one of the residents of the airfield who flies to work. Well, he does when the weather is kind. It involved a drive to the airfield and a couple of buses the other end and takes far longer than the simple drive, but hey, i...

I was confused by the bit in the magazine. As one who enjoys flying into Old Warden, I was interested to see if there was any more detail than the brief mention in various Events listings. I didn't feel at all edified, unfortunately. I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but someone could have done a bit ...
