I had some wide/thick (12mm?) machined alloy washers under the heads of the bolts between them and the crush plate. No good if you have a small spinner, though.

I've just found 6x used rolled thread 8mm metric drilled head bolts with 75mm unthreaded shank and 20mm thread. Any good? Might suffice until you can find some more?

info@intlaerospaceasia.com Based in Llandow, 5 miles west of Raf St Athan. They have a computer system called I.L.S. that traces any part you could ever need. Find the AN or MS or NAS part number of the item and they WILL find some for you. Tell them that "Britannia Rob" mentioned them to you. 01446...

Is it a Peacock conversion? Might be just as easy to get the 'nuts' remade in UNF threads. Alternatively, I might have a complete metric prop hub on the shelf, but I'm mid-house-extension at the mo and the garage is a mess.

I sold my other VW 1835 late last year for £'X'00. I believe it is back up for sale, if anyone needs one.

This new engine needs a donor to supply rods, tubes, pushrods, camshaft etc etc. I think there are even 2 bare heads with 10mm plug holes drilled in. Open to offers.

Do you know anyone in the RAF? At St Athan there is an NDT section who (for beer or charitable donations) might be persuaded to test a sample for you. A bit like a 'training session' for them? They did my weight-n-balance as a training job since it was a bit different from the usual VC10. No warrant...

FRED bits.

I've bought a FRED project that is never likely to fly. All the steelwork, all tailfeathers and spars/ribs are made. If you bend yours, don't forget that I've got lots of pre-made bits to help out! There is an incomplete 1835 engine, new barrels/pistons, magnafluxed crank, SR4s with all the brakets ...

First dibs on the fuel gauge?

I've tried phoning you, Colwyn, but no reply.

Boat trailer rental? Lots of longer trailers on Ebay. Might be a boat company around who could rent you one?

I welded up a trailer for £112 using all new pieces, with the exception of a set of Healey wheels and tyres. Took my FRED 130 miles each way on its' first journey. http://s82.photobucket.com/albums/j279/foggythomas/?action=view¤t=trail3.jpg http://s82.photobucket.com/albums/j279/foggythomas/?a...

NGK plugs (and Bosch if you are really unable to buy proper plugs) have rolled threads whilst Champion plugs (fishing weights, in my opinion) have cut threads. Champion always seem to neglect to you tell this in their sales info. Jamie. No prob. No charges 9other than postage) PS. Anyone travelling ...

VW extra-sparkplug-cutter jig

I'm about to buy one. Anyone need it after me? It can cut for both size extra plug threads.

Same prob with a VW. Reads double rpm. Seems that pulses get picked up through the ign leads plus the effect of having a wasted-spark system. Can you shield just the one lead you are picking up from? Braiding from braided fuel lines might do it? Just slide it off the fuel hose. Cheap from Partco. I ...

Yup! I've got 8 inch wheels. Saved 23lbs weight over the original Lambretta set-up!!!!!!!!! The bearings supplied were cr4p so I got some sealed ones from a motorbike plus the spindles that matched. Much better quality spindle since it came from a bike weighing the same as a FRED (almost!) and desig...
