Options: carry our own insurance. Seek sponsorship from the industry to insure the YA or YES activities. Divide into Permits to Fly Limited and a Popular Flying Association, one side to keep the permit system going, the other as an independent social link for operators of permit aircraft. Neither wo...

Has anybody asked the CAA if we are allowed to? A suitable test house is not really a problem; (I'm an RF engineer working for a defence contractor making transmitters amongst other things like airfield lighting systems...) I think that where there's a will there's a way but if nobody cares enough t...

But the LAA is " an aviation body in an EU member state." If we can grant a permit to an RV10 then we can grant one to a Vertex handheld. I can see no reason why not. The CAA is unlikely to object, in my view and legal is always better than illegal, especially if the equipment has been used for some...

*Unless an Aviation body in an EU member state gives dispensation for it to be used in the air. " Exactly. And when I asked on the BMAA forum why the BMAA had not done so, they tartly remarked that "BMAA doesn't do the work for the manufacturers." Nor, I gathered, for their own members, either. Is i...

Hear, hear. It is one thing to say that it is all a self help group but a little leadership wouldn't go amiss. Publicising events in local papers and including a mention of the LAA (8,000 members and >2000 homebuilt aeroplanes from WW1 replicas right up to aerobatic racers and pop down to Spain for ...

The way it has been put to me: all things external to the inspection and engineering aspects of the LAA are volunteer created and run, including struts. I have yet to see what the LAA offers to the struts but i see that they want "require", if you please, 50% of the strut members to be LAA members. ...

Almost certainly because the bureaucracy does not work well enough to allow joined up government / right hand left hand co-ordination, call it what you will. The office next door haven't got their own agenda so much as they don't know of their neighbours' existences due to the over complication of t...

I would be glad to see the organisation become its own underwriter. This is exactly the sort of support thatlLight aviation needs. some years ago, French motorcyclists, driven off the road by ridiculous premiums, formed their own insurance company to their enormous benefit. run at a modest profit, i...

One in Forty? Ya mean all this is for the benefit of two and a half percent of us? So ninety seven and a half percent of the input advice and knowledge doesn't wind up here? Somebody has evidently broken this thing real good. If the citizens don't attend the forum, what does that say about their att...
