Re: URGENTLY NEEDED VW type 1 main bearing split shells

Hi Tony, Thanks for the idea which I have started to follow up. Contact magazine July 2012 https://issuu.com/panzera/docs/issue_104.5 featured Revmaster engines. President Joe Horvarth was also a founding partner of EMPI possibly the largest VW after-market suppliers of parts and engines for beach b...

Re: URGENTLY NEEDED VW type 1 main bearing split shells

Rob, VW 070 195 531 is a steel backed shell (verify with magnet & density calculation) and the ‘internal’ oil groove described in my post. I have been unable to find an after-market shell with both these features. Coolair & VWHeritage, as a couple of examples, sell Silverline 111198461 at about £40 ...

URGENTLY NEEDED VW type 1 main bearing split shells

The JPX 75/A crankshaft uses the same shells as the Beetle engine centre main bearing. The old part number is VW 070 105 531. These have 9.5mm wide bearing surfaces either side of a 3mm wide oil channel (rather than just a continuous 22mm wide bearing surface). If anyone has new old 'old stock' unde...

Re: REVISED SELF-DECLARED MEDICAL FORM ISSUED BY CAA

Thanks Ian,

I'm not feeling quite myself anymore.... its the shock you see.
My worst fear is psychiatric drugs to treat Stockholm syndrome.

Re: Copy of article in May/June 1970 copy of PF

Bill, thanks for that but I already have the Air Commodore Paul flight test report. From memory, the May/June 1970 PF article has a graph showing the error in ASI across the speed range. I am not so much interested in the stalling speed per se but rather more interested in the calibration method usi...

Copy of article in May/June 1970 copy of PF

I have a file note that 'May/June 1970 issue of Popular Flying reported tests on a Jodel D9 fitted with a trailing static where it was found that the ASI under-read by 12 knots at the stall at a true 35 knots, with the position error of the pitot reducing to zero at 100 knots. ' But I have lost my o...

Re: Medical self-declaration

The new medical regulation is at its most inconsistent and gold-plated for the pilots of single-seat microlights. The airworthiness of the single-seat microlight is de-regulated. There is no requirement under the ANO to demonstrate compliance to any design code. This enlightened change was made beca...

Re: Gyro instruments

Well I for one would always fit at least one gyro instrument, prefeably a AH, in a traditional VFR panel. If for example you are crossing the channel and encounter haze then it can be quite disorienting when a boat comes into view travelling in an unexpected direction. I have a much more vivid examp...
