Hi all. I recently bought my first aircraft. It's a total dream come true and I've been flying it at every opportunity I can, but there's one issue which is really causing me grief - the radio is really bad. Is it OK to use standard automotive-grade wiring in a permit aircraft? At present the whole aircraft (assembled 1996) is wired with standard aviation cable, but now I need to do a run of 0-gauge or 1-gauge from the battery to the starter solenoid and I can't find this thickness of cable anywhere exc...

Installing a transponder - Mode C allowed?
I recently bought a plane without a transponder and have been looking into fitting one as I live near a bunch of controlled airspace.
I read somewhere that you are not allowed to fit Mode-Cs into aircraft anymore - if it's newly fitted, it must be Mode S. Is this true?
