Re: LAA amateur built aircraft flying to France post Brexit

We've been told that the DGAC has agreed to sign the revised ECAC letter of agreement, but that the CAA does not yet have it in their possession. I've seen an e-mail from DGAC confirming this, so it's all going in the right direction, although it is likely we won't have overseas flights enabled in C...

The Dft has issued new guidance that indicates that “flying for non-professional purposes for solo pilots, or individuals flying with a member of their household or bubble” will be permitted from Monday 29th March . Until that time, flying for leisure purposes is not permitted under Government lockd...

LAA ANNIVERSARY MINI-TOUR IN JULY REPLACES PLANNED ROUND-BRITAIN EVENT

Based on the current Government advice on Covid-19 precautions for the summer, the LAA has regretfully elected to cancel its 2021 Round-Britain Tour which was to be held at the end of May. The event will be replaced by an LAA Anniversary Mini-Tour, which will commence at Henstridge in Somerset on Su...

Good news from CAA for Pilot Medical Declaration Holders.

Good news from CAA for Pilot Medical Declaration Holders.

Good too, to see the CAA acknowledging their error and candidly apologising.

LAA Response to Oban-Mull Airspace Change Proposal

We don’t normally post the individual responses to Airspace Change Proposals lodged with the CAA (not least because over 200 now received, we’d swamp our website!), but given the significant public interest generated by Skyports’ application ACP-2020-099 for corridors surrounding proposed UAS trials...

Re: TDA Trial - Drones - Goodwood - Choke points!

We're preparing an LAA response to this, in addition to working with the GA Alliance airspace programme manager (who we help fund), who will respond on behalf of the whole GA sector. It's not just this TDA which we're having to deal with. This week we're dealing with TDAs and Airspace Change Proposa...

Re: Experimental status in UK

Hi Mark and welcome.

I think we'll need some more detailed information on the aircraft before we can give more detailed advice. Can I suggest you drop an e-mail to [email protected] with some of the aircraft details and we'll get back to you with more specific advice.

Re: COVID Latest DfT advice, no leisure flying permitted.

The DfT has given a hard-earned concession regarding maintenance and continuity flying, we will not seek to interpret this for members. We believe that LAA members should make their own decisions based on their circumstances and risk assessment. However I am generally worried that if this abused by ...

COVID Latest DfT advice, no leisure flying permitted.

The DfT has updated their advice to pilots that during the current lockdown, no leisure flying is permitted. A small number of flights for purposes of work or for professional pilot training can continue. Engine health and maintenance check flights can only take place where there is a critical safet...

CAA CHANGES POLICY ON LOCKDOWN PPL MEDICALS

While not yet the subject of an official CAA announcement, it is being widely reported that the CAA has changed its advice to AMEs on offering PPL medicals during the current lockdown. We and other organisations (and AMEs) had made the strongest possible case that the advice from the CAA Medical Pol...

Re: Covid lockdown

Alan et al As we circulated to all members on Tuesday, the position we have been advocating to CAA and DfT has been consistent. There is no COVID safety reason why an LAA member should not fly, either to maintain pilot currency or to maintain aircraft serviceability. If a flight is solo, or with a p...

Re: LAA Insurance Scheme -Air Courtage

I haven't mad a claim myself, but I can confirm that their claims handling process, via an insurance assessor to the registered underwriter, is identical to any other insurance company.

Over the past three years, they have settled several dozen claims, from minor damage to total loss.
