Many thanks Steve.

That is exactly what I need to know and I'll buy some fillers and get on with it!

Regards.

West epoxy for wood joints & use of fillers.

As part of an LAA required Mod scheme, to reinforce the seat belt/harness attachment points in my project, I need to use epoxy to install some small wood blocks and ply gussets. I have some West clear epoxy and "slow" hardener. Normally, I use Aerodux, but the surfaces have previously been sealed wi...

Bertrand, Many thanks and I am very grateful for your advice. I don't possess a decent spray gun or the necessary breathing gear to allow me to attempt to safely spray the exotic paints that are needed, so I will have to use a brush. I can't afford to have too thick a layer of paint, since the clear...

Painting steel fittings

Could anyone suggest a method of finishing or painting small steel fittings and recommend suitable products and suppliers? I've searched LAA/EAA archives on the web for ideas and had no success so far. I have in mind using an aerosol etch primer first followed by a brushable epoxy paint. Or, perhaps...

I have to import a replacement tailspring set from Univair in the USA. My original End-Use arrangement expired some time ago and I understand from earlier posts that this system was replaced by Customs form C 100, where occasional imports are involved. Is this form still used, or has it been replace...

David,

Many thanks for your comments- they give me much more confidence and I will investigate the interesting idea of re-bushing the torque plates.

Cleveland wheels: Brake Torque plates & anchor pins

Can anyone advise me what the wear limits are for the fit of the anchor pins in the bushed holes in Cleveland torque plates? Obviously they have to be completely free to move, but I have a used set of wheels and brakes and the pins seem a wee bit loose in the torque plate holes. Replacements are pre...

Not sure if this extract from an old EAA /Tony Bingelis item(hope they will excuse my copying it!) might help: "Making The Tail Spring A builder can make a big problem out of fabricating the tail spring for his homebuilt. This shouldn't happen, however, as the spring steel material is readily availa...

Zinc/Nickel plating steel parts

The 4130N steel hinge fittings for the wooden tailplane on my project have to be corrosion proofed. The plans call for them to be "tinned". The fittings will pass through holes which are to be sealed with polyurethane or epoxy. I had in mind having them plated/electroplated with either zinc, nickel ...

John,

I'm out of my depth with this topic, but would second Will's comments and thank you again for your work on this issue.

Whatever the technicalities are, NATS should have the courtesy to give full and open consideration to all sides.
