Re: LAA Rally 2019 Duplicate bookings.

Hi Robert, I understand your frustration and I'm sorry I don't have a satisfactory solution. Unfortunately the CAA quite significantly reduced the number of slots we could have two or three years ago, which is why we ask people not to double book. Many of those that book each day, do so because they...

Re: 2019 Rally

Thanks Daniel, as I said n a post about the future development of the forum, I really don't like the PM system. It was only because you mentioned you had sent me a PM that I checked it but god knows why it didn't work. I don't doubt it was my fault, which just goes to show it isn't idiot proof!

Re: 2019 Rally

Hi Daniel, I sent a reply to your PM but I'm not sure whether you got it. I suggested you call Sywell ATC, the number's on the Sywell website under contacts) and ask for Jeff Bell. He will be able to tell you what you need to know.
All the best, Brian.

Re: Future of the Forum

Hi Tony, I certainly think we should use the forum to its maximum capability and specific subjects like engines and popular aircraft types seem to me to be perfectly appropriate. I'll check the current situation on how this can be achieved and get back. re the personal messages. I'm not a computer g...

Re: Future of the Forum

Hi Bob, I'm neither Steve nor John but I can tell you that there is an agreed budget to redesign the website, although I know of no comment that the Forum will or will not be included in that piece of work. The project is on hold because of the current high workload, my guess is that it is unlikely ...

Re: 2019 Rally

I have always taken the view that the aircraft flying in are a significant part of the event, so they should get good deal. The standard single engine piston landing fee at Sywell is £16.50 and it's £12 for a microlight. And an overnight stay costs £6.50. Despite having 50% Scottish blood coursing t...

Re: 2019 Rally

Hi Nic, I'm afraid we don't have those stats. The booking in sheets contain the usual data of type, pilot name, from where etc but not whether they are an LAA member. Although we know how many non-members arrive by road, based on admission ticket sales (the member admission rate is only £6, and non ...

Re: 2019 Rally

Hi Mike et al, sorry not to get back sooner, been tied up with the magazine, which incidentally contains details of the Rally. There will be no need to plot the hold on SkyDemon because as previously mentioned, they have been helping us prepare downloadable routings for the hold and circuit for the ...

Re: 2019 Rally

Hi Mike, many thanks for posting on the FLYER forum for me. The co-ordinates shown on the AIC for the corners of the hold are a problem, but really don't need to cause undue concern. I asked Jeff Bell, Sywell's SATCO, about them and they represent four turning points where the locations coincide wit...

2019 Rally

Posting stuff about this year's Rally on the 2020 Rally thread was causing confusion so it's probably better that we start a thread specifically about 2019. I've reposted the stuff about the AIC etc, please remember to bin any copies of the earlier AIC - Y038/2019 - as it has been withdrawn and the ...

Re: 2020 Rally

Hi Colin, the thread stated talking about the an idea for the 2020 Rally but the details about the AIC etc are about the 2019 Rally. Probably a better idea to start a thread solely about this year, so I will.

Re: 2020 Rally

Hi David, 038 was actually withdrawn some weeks ago, and 098 mentions its cancellation in the header. If anybody reading this is not a member and is intending to fly into the Rally, please make sure you have this revised AIC as there are subtle differences to the joining and departure procedures. Hi...

Re: 2020 Rally

Hi Dave, to be honest I am not sure that would really help as the joining procedure is the same until final. One of the concerns raised over the AIC was dual runway operation, which was fortunately allayed for this year. In my view having two runways is a safer option, offering a choice particularly...

Re: Letters : LA Mag, May'19

I think you mean tawdry Tom. If somebody submits an adversarial or factually inaccurate letter, then is it not reasonable that the editor is permitted a response? You clearly have a different view but I respect your right to have so. As far as being a back hander, the final comment about CFS not res...

Re: Briggs and Stratton article

Hi Jim, we ran an article on converting the B&S engine for aircraft use in October 2012 which is probably the one you are thinking of. If you don't have a copy of the magazine, email me and I'll send a pdf on Monday.
