Engineering Courses.
Any new courses coming along? :?: I ask about once a year or so if there is a Lycoming maintenance course coming along, but I guess that is probably moot now after overhauling a replacement O-320 for my RV last year. Others might be interested though. Yet others might be interested in a small Contin...

...as I'm new to the LAA & considering building an aircraft... ...is an ICOM IC-A210E 8.33 ... ok to use... Forgive me, but I think you may be getting bogged down in the detail. If you are at the stage of 'considering building' then you are sufficiently far away from fitting radios that I can almos...

Re: Tachometer reading erratic
Sounds like you've found the issue, but in the interests of completeness... I believe that this can also be caused by the Mag needing servicing. The points inside may have become worn and pitted and/or the capacitor (condenser) is on it's way out so you no longer get nice sharp electrical blips on t...

Re: Oil temperature control
Give us a clue!
What kind of engine are we talking about here? Lycosaur? Bontinental? Slotax? VolksDragon? Something else?
I've seen some Rotax installations with either manual or 'automatic' flaps over their oil coolers...
How about letting us know what kind of aircraft you have, too?

Pegasus Engine
Seen this engine in the May mag. Looks interesting.

Are they still 'supported by the factory' and have a type certificate?
That used to be the acid test, but seems to be ignored now: Gardan Horizons for example - nobody owns the type cert and in France, their country or origin, they are on a permit, but here they are CofA.

Re: Airspace infrigements
Other options, such as rationalising airspace boundaries, are also a potential solution." So they admit that the airspace layout is irrational (if it needs to be 'rationalised'), but only as a last resort will they look into applying some common sense to it! Daun sauf it is unsurprising that a numb...

Re: Leburg ignition
Copper a definite no-no. Shouldn't need resistor caps, or plugs come to that, the carbon HT lead does the job for you. I made my own for Leburg ignition. Bought the bits from http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/ , including the crimpers. The coil end terminals required a little bit of creativity t...

Re: Rotax 582 Greytop crank TBO
I investigated blue top Rotax 582s when considering going down the microlight route. I stayed with Group A! On hunting round t'internet the general consensus seemed to be that after 300 hours it was not if but when the crankshaft would break, and normally quite soon after (10-25 hours). I was appall...

Re: Champion REL37B spark plugs
Are they massive electrode plugs or iridium wire? If they are iridium wire they are supposed to outlast an engine with zero (plug) maintenance. They are also fiendishly expensive so I'd guess they are not fitted to a VW conversion. All the massive electrode plugs I have seen have a circular centre e...

Champion? 0 hours is still too old.
NGK every time.
Depends on condition and type of ignition. More details please.

Re: Welding your own fusalage
I was talking about the regs rather than blatant stupidity.
You can set light to a garage testing a spark plug if you are sufficiently inept.
Regarding welding at home I refer people to my previous comments about getting some training.
