Just a quick aside to this thread; spoke with Jeff Bell today and they already have over 850 aircraft booked!

Steve, it's probably worth pointing out that MKAS are running the airside parking and visitors on behalf of Sywell, NOT the LAA. Our departing CEO was quite insistent that the LAA had nothing to do with airside ops for liability reasons. All airside stuff is Sywell's responsibility, we only take res...

Same here Joe! I park other side of the pump island from the kiosk, get the jerry cans out and place them near the filler (remember to close the boot) and fill 'em! I've had arguments in the past about filling cans bigger than 5 ltrs anyway.

Mike, I was intending to go but figured it would be off. My partner is down at our cottage in Cornwall and tells me they have been selling tickets for boat trips to 'Lundy Air Day'! I think there will be some seasick and disappointed punters.....

Seconded Rod1, let's hope we can actually get back to our 'Can Do' ethos rather than 'Can't Do' under our new CEO. I personally look forward to meeting him at the Rally where hopefully he will get a good introduction to the grass roots of our association, if he survives the evening session, he'll ha...

Mike may have a point John, but if you've survived this long......! As a matter of interest, Barry Smith reckons that there is no better carburettor for a VW than a Stromberg CD150. I bought a New Old Stock CD150 for £40 from Ebay! It would of course mean fabricating a new inlet manifold etc. These ...

John, reading your symptoms.... firstly I don't think you have a needle in there, it's a fixed jet job I think. The slow running mixture screw is just that, it only covers the mixture up to 1000 -1500 rpm. It sounds like fuel starvation caused by either a blockage or poor fuel delivery OR an air lea...

Interesting that the common thread here is one of "it's ok if it doesn't impact upon my costs" and "it'll only be a minority who will want it". In reality I too believe it will only be of interest to those who have relatively exotic machinery. I think it would be interesting to know what proportion ...

Lee, it's a 'standard' problem, related to time and environmental conditions. I've run 447, 503 and 582 over the years, all the same! I didn't realise they were that expensive though (it's been 20 years since I had to buy any, but they used to be around £4.00 each!). Small cracks on the outer surfac...

Paul, I'm not sure there is an official TBO for VW engines. I would think some form of scheduled monitoring and service routine would be far more important than worrying about fixed hours (which applies mainly to specific aircraft derived components). Consider a Beetle, on the road, in it's day, 140...
