I put my permit renewal form in the post at lunchtime on Monday 9 September.
I get home from work tonight Wednesday 11 September and my new permit is waiting for me.
Absolutely excellent service, thank you.
Now what's the weather like at the weekend?
Alan.

Re: Torque figure for Goodyear wheel nuts
Hello Trevor,
Not quite the same thing but may be reasonable to use.
For a Cleveland 5.00 x 5 wheel the AN4 tie bolts are torqued to 90 in/lbs.
Regards, Alan.

Re: Kitfox Tyres
And assuming Aircraft Spruce have what you want then Parts for Aircraft in Lisburn are also agents for Aircraft Spruce, they may be close to reduce transport costs.

Re: Permit Renewal Excellent Service
I posted my permit renewal application on Monday 6 Nov and the permit came back in the post on Friday 10 Nov. An excellent service and in time for the weekend. So far it does not look like the weather is flyable but I am happy nonetheless.

A vote of thanks to Brian Hope
Recently on this forum Brian Hope (& other volunteers) has received rather personal flak for: - the demographic of attendees at the rally, - the content of the magazine, - an award to someone I will not mention again. He must really wonder why he bothers. So in response: - I was happy with the rally...

Re: Vans RV4 Tail Wheel assy
Paul, Here is our tailwheel just before a 50 hour check and looking sorry for itself. http://trussler.co.uk/alangeorge/RV4_tailwheel.JPG It needs drying off, the old grease cleaned out and then re-greasing the bushing and locking pin. Also put a grease gun on the bearings in the tailwheel and looks ...

Re: Vans RV4 Tail Wheel assy
Nut at the bottom, I have not seen that, how does it work? Our RV-4 has the standard Vans fully castoring tailwheel. It works OK but does wear, for instance the locking pin and the bolts that mount the assembly to the spring/rod. In fact we are on our second unit in something like 900 hours. So we d...

Would that be a Pitts S1T on a permit?

Re: ICOM A2 radio headset adaptor and sidetone
I have used a Maplin box to mount the sockets for the headsets so that could just as easily be an intercom. I like the Flycom intercom as single cable powers both it and the Icom radio, a neat solution. But it is intended for Flycom headsets so would need another adaptor for a 2 plug GA headset like...

ICOM A2 radio headset adaptor and sidetone
I have made up a headset adaptor for our ICOM A2 radio that is panel mounted and it works fine but there is no sidetone i.e. I cannot hear myself in the headset when I am transmitting and it is surprisingly annoying. I understand the ICOM A2 does not have sidetone as standard so has anyone found a m...

Hooker harness crotch strap for Pitts S-1S
Hello All,
I am looking for a Hooker harness crotch strap for our Pitts S-1S project. It is a long length of 2" webbing that wraps around a fuselage tube with the Hooker 'eyelet' attached. Anybody got one available / for sale?
Thanks, Alan.

Yes I am familiar with steerable tailwheels that become free castoring when you steer pass a detent. I normally fly an RV-4 that has the Vans version of this, easy handling and useful for tight manoeuvres. However the Pitts has a tailwheel that is locked in the straight ahead position, then when you...

Locking tailwheel release
Hello All, I am involved in a Pitts S-1 rebuild project that has a Haigh(?) locking tailwheel but no release mechanism. I am thinking of using Bowden cable for the connection but I am looking for ideas/advice/photos on the cockpit control. Something that defaults to the locked position, is clear to ...
