Re: BTH to electronic?

I can't find anything that says they will fit the BTH system. Could you post me a link?

BTH to electronic?

Has anyone investigated converting one of their BTH magnetos to electronic ignition? I've seen a Pitts with 1 mag and one electronic system so there is a precedent. I'm not finding BTH to be that reliable despite having them professionally rebuild more than once by different suppliers.

Insurance costs

My premium has gone up 50% from last year with Traffords. Has anyone else had similar rises?
Visicover were even more expensive. £70 compared to £620. Last year it was £415 and I haen't made any claims

Missing aircraft

A friend of mine is trying to locate a Beagle pup G-AWKO which he unwisely allowed out of his possession before full payment was made. Can anyone locate this aircraft please as he understandably wants it back! I gather it's been moved to a private strip to stop him regaining possession. Any help wil...

gps overlay

Many years ago there was a bit of software you could add to the Etrex and similar GPSs to add the ATZs etc to the map. Someone supplied it free as I recall. Now is this still around, can it go on the colour basemap and if so can someone give me the link? My old Etrex is getting iffy and I've just pi...

Peltor

I have a couple of pairs of Peltor 8006 headsets I'm about to use while flying some scouts. ( No use letting them wreck the good ones ;-) One pair has internal switches in the cup but I can't find the instructions on setting them even online. Has anyone got a set please?

Aluminium welding

I have a friend in the states who has found the Gypsy crank cases are 14% zinc. This could explain the difficulties in welding them. Does anyone have knowledge of welding this stuff. I presume a high zinc rod and a good TIG isn't the answer!

Re: Cheap historic aircraft

The snag with the Auster, and I maintain 3, is spares for the early engines are rocking horse poo. Anyone who has any hangs onto them and won't trade. Even basic servicing spares are hard to find. If you are good with a set of spanners yourself they are simple enough but if you are the type of perso...

Unbelievably we found 4 new ones in a drawer so all sorted. Wondering if one of the horses in the field is Shergar as well ;-)

Cirrus

I'm helping a friend with an Early Auster with the Cirrus engine. We need the large rubber bungs on the side of the engine as they aren't very rubbery any more. Can someone post me in the direction of new ones please as I suspect NOS will be as bad.

Re: Rotec radials

Is this the same Verner who had problems with a flat twin microlight engine some years back?

Rotec radials

Does anyone know much about these? I've been on you tube and google but there's not a lot apart from one very disgruntled owner with a load of failures.

Re: On the pull?

We are using 3 sheets of 1/4 ply on the compacted gravel/hoggin at the moment. If it rains much more I'll be able to float her out! Thanks for the link on the grasscrete

Re: On the pull?

The farmer is lending me a sit on mower, the sort with casters for the front wheels that can spin in its own length so I'll post how well it works. A float mod might be a good idea too at the moment!
