Re: Training on permit aircraft - what are they checking?

Surely a quick call to the office would have resolved the delay without resorting to an implied public 'winge'. You have not said if you have done so.
They are there to help and in my experience are very willing to do so.

Re: Fuselage Frame Fabric

I have used the Stits Poly Fiber system for my Fairchild Argus restoration - easy to use with an idiot proof manual that needs to be followed to the letter and all will be well. Chris and his son Alex, who took over the business from Tony Young, are most approachable and helpful. They always answer ...

Re: An open letter to the leadership of the LAA

Collision avoidance equipment - TCAS - has been around for years but Is just not practical, in my opinion, for our use due to cost amongst other things. It is designed for for use by IFR traffic. Also any thing which encourages us to 'Keep our heads in the office' staring at all the gizmos available...

Thanks Tony for the link -
However this is classified as 'Dangerous goods' - I don't know why - so, expensive to ship.

Windscreen Sealant

I am interested in what folk are using for windscreen sealing. I was going for PR1425 at £38 for a 100ml semkit. Apparently this is no longer kosher and the 'Green' alternative is £134 +VAT!!! for the same 100ml. :( I want to avoid silicone as it is a brute to clean off if you need to paint/touch-up...

Re: Moving aircraft project

I borrowed an open (not covered) glider trailer and used balks of timber as required under the fuselage of a Fairchild Argus and lashed the whole lot down with cargo straps - traveled over 400 miles with not a problem.

A Vote of thanks - Wessex Strut

I would like to give a huge vote of thanks to the Wessex Strut for organising such a successful and enjoyable Fly-in last Sunday for their 40th anniversary, and the weather to go with it! Attendance was more than I have seen for a very long time insomuch that I noticed parking space was at a premium...

Oops - finger working quicker than brain! - sorry I was thinking of Tracy tools at Torquay - https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q=tracy+tools+torquay if they are the same as Dartmouth then I don't have another suggestion. I have the same problem with having to buy a tool for just one job - very fr...

If you cannot borrow one try these people - excellent (24hr) service and good to deal with - I don't think their prices are excessive.

I might be teaching grandmother to suck eggs but have you tried the Moth club for information - under 'Service register' - then 'Rubber mouldings and extrusions'?
