Workshop – how big?

Also posted on the Flyer forum, but thought I would canvass here too If one were to build an aircraft, how much workshop space should one sensibly allow? Area? Height? I realise this is a bit of a "piece of string" question, so let's assume we're building something straightforward -- Vans, Groppo, E...

Re: Jodel detained at Plymouth

This has been discussed at (very great) length on the Flyer forum... All I would add here is that glider pilots frequently land out on private land. The landowner is entitled to compensation for damage, e.g. to crops, but the aircraft owner is entitled to have their aircraft back in the same state i...

Re: New member

Welcome! The short answer is that designing and building your own aircraft can be done, and indeed has been done. But it's a highly non-trivial exercise, so not something that many people do. That said, the new rules to de-regulate single-seat microlights may change things in this respect... Enjoy t...

Re: landing tops (nose heavy ?)

Have you tried keeping a little power on all the way down? Or alternatively a judicious waft of power to cushion the flare? (I fly a lightweight taildragger, and both of these techniques help.)

Re: LeBurg ignition

You could try this guy (recommended by some car sites):

Or

(Does this mean the Plumb two-ship formation is nigh?)

Has anyone got a set of Jodel D9 plans handy?

We need to know the proper metric size for the bolts that hold the undercarriage on. (An overhaul has revealed an interesting mishmash of sizes on our D9 and we would like to know what they should be!)

New types progress chart...very out of date

A posting on the Flyer forum prompted me to look at the "New types progress chart" on the LAA website:

http://www.lightaircraftassociation.co. ... Chart.html

But it's dated 4 May 2012!!! I really think it's time it was updated...

Re: A company that can overhaul Limbach engines

Stu Hoy is the UK agent for Limbach. He dealt with our motorglider's Limbach after an "incident" required a shock-load test. But he sends the engines back to the factory in Germany. You could ask Ken Ballington at http://www.ukaircraftparts.com/ . He has rebuilt our engines in the past... I'm not su...
