Re: Jabiru engined a/c Limitations
Bob. I have to agree indeed it seems to getting far too personal now. There are often calls to make more use of our forum I don't think this is the way to encourage use of this facility. Rod posted information which I would certainly want to know about if I operated a Jabiru engine. The link clearly...

Re: VW ignition on a Turbulent
You could try Simple Digital Systems. They have a system for the VW engine.
I don't have any experience of there products. They recently posted on a forum that they now have LAA approval. The post indicated that there system was on the Titan T51 with the Suzuki engine.
All the best. Ian

Re: Ray Allen Stick Grip wiring
Check the current rating of the switches. You may have to fit relays to operate the trim motors and use the stick mounted switches to fire the relays. There have been instances of relays welding on and causing trim run away. Also you introduce the possibility of inadvertent operation of the trim swi...

Re: If Carling designed an LAA aircraft?
Hi. Folks. Very interesting idea, just think in years to come there could be a fleet of LAA Specials arriving at the annual fly-in. How about aircraft type, well my thoughts would be. Two seat side by side Aluminium construction. Pop rivets. Low wing. Cantilever. Aircraft for inspiration. RV12. Sone...

Has anyone done the welding course ?
I wonder if it covers tig and oxy as this seems to be a hard first decision to make on a tube project.

Re: SSDR rules
Hi, Colin
I think any one operating an approved aircraft which is then de-regulated would still find it easy to get insurance as the aircraft was a design which the LAA had investigated and approved.
I just wonder how they would view a self designed and built aircraft.
Regards, Ian.

Re: SSDR aircraft design
Craig This could be good timing for you. Have a look at the flyer forum topic. CAA Bomshell For Micrilights. If it is implemented all single seat microlights will be deregulated. So no need for you to design to SSDR with the wing area and wing loading figures which are very restrictive. Not sure wha...

Re: SSDR aircraft design
Hi. Craig
Have a look at the DVD course by Bill Whitney. It's available in the book shop.
It's a very detailed course and all topics are presented in a very accessible way.
Good luck with your project.
