Re: BRITISH EASA LAPL POST BREXIT

Great suggestion Stephen. As we all know the real ‘learning’ takes place after all the training is done and a 200 hour LAPL pilot is way past a newly licensed PPL. As you say some have loads more than that. Steve, this would be a great initiative for the LAA to support and a simpler transfer to a fu...

Re: Experimental status in UK

Looks nice, from what I've seen the SC isn't an aircraft that would need 'dismantling' for inspection. Like I said it's a nuts and bolts, pipe and wire build, stand to be corrected though, not much that a builder can get creative with that would affect it's airworthiness. Obviously an extensive insp...

Re: Experimental status in UK

If it’s currently and Experimental it is unlikely to be factory built but I suppose it’s possible.
As Steve said some more details would be handy?

Re: Experimental status in UK

Technical Leaflet 1.06 refers to importing aircraft: http://www.lightaircraftassociation.co.uk/engineering/TechnicalLeaflets/Building,%20Buying%20or%20Importing/TL%201.06%20Imported%20Aircraft.pdf The Sportscruiser is an existing type to the LAA as you probably know, is 'inspectable' and as it's gen...

Re: BRITISH EASA LAPL POST BREXIT

Great question David, my son has one of these licenses.
He's ready to start continental touring (one Covid suppressed day).
If no recognition then a route to conversion? Or is there one?
Good post, thanks Clive

Both my son and I have been with them for 2 years. OK so far, using the self repair option to save a few quid.

Re: France airstrip?

Just messaged with a friend who lives in France and has put a strip out on his land. He says it's much like the UK with the 28 day rule though practically if no one complains you won't have a problem. Out of town isolated place would be easiest. Like all things in France, if the Mayor is happy every...

Re: Training for LAPL in own Jodel on own strip

Sounds like a great set up, go for it. My son learned in our permit plane with my old instructor at a farm airfield on old WWII runways. Admittedly not a tailwheel but he is gagging to have a go in the taildragger we have but for now I'm letting him consolidate his general flying. Can't see a downsi...

Online Auction of the contents of the hangar museum at Midden Zeeland

https://www.troostwijkauctions.com/nl/aviation-industry/01-32409/ The chap that ran the 'museum hangar' at Zeeland sadly died last year and his collection is up for auction online by his family. Even if you're not in the market for anything it's an amazing amount of stuff to peruse... Viewing is all...

Re: Jabiru 2200

It’s a difficult one. I have always been surprised with the amount of temperature problems the Jab has, especially the early ones and they were developed in Australia.... Given a cold blast tube for the pump will only spoil the head cooling my only thought was for a spillback line tee’d from the car...

Re: Ciovid -19 and Permit Revalidation Check Flight

When I was struggling to get the weight up I used socket sets and tool rolls, they are heavy but not so bulky so can be strapped into foot wells as well to get close to the seat but not on it.
Maybe something to bear in mind.

Re: Travel to airfield for self maintenance. Acceptable or not?

That's the way I read it, I can't think of an engine manufacturer that says 'run it on the ground for 20 mins' so we are off then!

End of thread!
BTW, apparently you need to make a record of the flight......don't we do that already?

Re: Travel to airfield for self maintenance. Acceptable or not?

i was trying to paste a link to a reasonably good article on the Sky news website but this board won’t let me do that, also won’t let me paste a picture in. The article was about clarification of what you can and can’t do from the NPCC National Police Chiefs Council, gist of it was examples of do’s ...
