Re: Your Medical - What You Need to Know

In August 2019 my then AME had to telephone the CAA during my appointment to have the PMD removed - or else her online link to Gatwick would not work. This happened to me when I went for a LAPL medical in 2019. The PMD was removed so that the LAPL medical could continue but was reinstated afterward...

Re: Permit renewal, two day turnaround

Another satisfied customer. Form posted after lunch yesterday and CofV received by email at 14:30 today.

Quite remarkable when you consider few staff (if any) are working at the office.

Re: LAA amateur built aircraft flying to France post Brexit

I heard a rumour that the DGAC has agreed to amend their law and is at present drafting the necessary legislation -- but it could just be a rumour!

Perhaps Steve Slater will know more at the LAA Virtual Pub Night on Friday evening.

Re: PM sitting in outbox

Ian, at the same time the message appears in your outbox it also appears in the recipients inbox. When they open the message to read it the message will disappear from your outbox. That's just the way the phpBB forums work.

Re: December Zoom 'pub' night details ?

That's interesting. I noticed that the attendance count on the screen was at 100 for a long period of time. I suspect the Zoom agreement has a limit of 100 which was probably deemed adequate as I don't think we had ever exceeded about 70 previously.

Re: BRITISH EASA LAPL POST BREXIT

I think this is a question which very many of us holding a LAPL would like to see answered. I have reason to believe that the CAA have it on their list of things to do. However, I doubt it is anywhere near the top of the list so patience may be needed.

Channel Danger Areas

The October edition of "Light Aviation" dropped through the letter box this morning and, as usual, all those chores which I had the good intention to complete were shelved whilst I read our excellent magazine. One item which caught my eye was the news item about the Channel Danger areas. The map on ...

Re: New Project

Hi Lee,

As a start I would suggest reading the TIL here on imported aeroplanes. Is the aeroplane you are looking at one for which the LAA has already accepted the type?

No doubt someone will be along shortly who can answer your other questions.

Re: Learning - Fabric - Help!?

Stephen, Ceconite practice kits are available. We have just used one for repairs to a wing and I would think that there is probably enough in one to do a rudder recover. I can't remember where the kit came from but could find out at the weekend unless someone else pops up here with the answer. My pr...

I can't answer your question but would ask you if the Welsh Administration have any authority over the operation of aircraft anywhere in the UK. Is that not the sole responsibility of the CAA?

Re: Insurance costs

If you can dig out your April copy of Light Aviation, Chrystelle Launai on page 31 explains some of the problems faced by aircraft insurers at present. I have owned the same aircraft for over 20 years with little or no change in the scope of cover and have kept a careful note of the premiums that I ...
