Re: Digital display of oil temperature and pressure?
I'm looking for a very light-weight digital display that will accept the inputs from standard automtive VDO senders ? Stratomaster do various dispaly units eg the E3 is about 100g plus connectors. Does anyone know of something lighter by any chance? Richard we have an MGL E3 in our aircraft and the...

We are crossing to Germany in a weeks time (mode C). Will let you know. Last year Dutch mil were very helpful. Kept us squawking 7000 and let us fly above 1200ft. We were in class G all the way though. Update! Dutch Mil were equally pragmatic this trip. Above 1200ft with Mode C was acceptable. Belo...

Let's not forget this is nothing to do with safety but about the fear (paranoia?) of litigation. Where that has happened it has all been aimed at LAA as a regulator not LAA struts or events. Target any fix toward the problem and leave the struts alone. The CAA charity flight criteria mentioned above...

Re: Gold Plating
Rather than shovel £5K a year down the insurers' bottomless pit, I would rather the Board set aside £5K (or more) a year into an interest bearing account that is a bespoke legal fighting fund for any aspect of the Association's activities. . What an excellent idea for EC to think about for the futu...

Re: What is the L.A.A. becoming
How many "new" members who fly 'Spam Cans' & pay their LAA membership fees have been offered a snippet of anything to do with their type of flying, and is this the way to try to keep them. ? Ron, all the airspace work John Brady does is for all of us not just permit aircraft as is the lobbying Roge...

Brian, Yes I would if I knew he was a good pilot. That fact he has not flown 10 hours in the last 3 months has nowt to do with that. Like most organisers I would look at the pilot and his/her aircraft not paperwork and simply ask him to check he was legal. I don't recall an aircraft falling out of t...

A simple scenario - we decide to ignore Scout and Cadet guidelines and go with minimum CAA requirements - 3 landings in 90 days, no experience on type etc etc. Little Johnny goes flying with a 50 hour pilot who has done three touch and gos in the past week but nothing else in the past six months. T...

Sorry Dave but it is not a good result. This 4 seat cover is just one step in the right direction but who decided LAA should gold plate the passenger currency requirements laid down by CAA in the ANO? This will considerably reduce the ability of experienced but weather bound pilots to contribute to ...

I confess I don't pass by here often nowadays. We often plan trips online with people that can't post here so I look for flyin info and who is going to what on Flyer forum which is open to all. This forum gets active when there are 'issues' within LAA and I see the lack of traffic as a sign that the...

Re Brian Hope's response, I did question it publicly exactly because there did seem to be doubt at the Strut meeting, which certainly went against my understanding and practise. Interesting point. The discussion at our meeting was whether there is legal requirement to carry a paper chart as well as...

I had a liittle investigate as this didn't make sense after everything CAA had promised. It appears that mode S ground stations still send out a "All Call interogation" now and again to see who is about. This is seen by A/C stuff normaly and it reponds just as before and the world goes on. So "class...
