Can I suggest that you contact Richard Mole, he has posts on here, latterly in the sales/wants category, he's been absent lately but he may be able to help.

The email addess on the site may not be the best way to get a response, call or text Henry on 07909 221825, I got a response that way.

Nick, that is a good point to make. Seeing the engine as just one component in an installation is important . A succcessful combination of engine, hardware and design encompassing the core engine, drive, ancillaries, cooling, air and fuel system etc., is necessary to achieve the safety and reliabilt...

Rob,

Ron's around, but I don't think that he uses email a lot. He's a member of our local Strut and I did think that he'd be interested in the idea being floated!!

Brian et al, I just got in and have been reading this thread which has quickly grown. The problem with the VW is always going to be its abiltiy to dissipate the wasted energy of combustion which limits its continuous output. Bob Hoover covers this well in his many articles. That also makes the insta...

A VW for the 21st Century

I was very interested to read Graham Clark's letter in the October issue of Light Aviation proposing that the LAA support a competition to promote the design of a 21st Century replacement for the long-running VW. I think that this is exactly the sort of project that the LAA should be promoting in su...

It might be worth calling Ken Ballington: http://www.ukaircraftparts.com/ he does have some avionics. I too assumed that the £100 limit was to create an incentive to use the mag but it probably has little effect in practice. In fact, by having the limit it is possible that LAA members are missing th...

Is there any experience of using NiMh batteries instead of Lead Acid? 12v model aircraft flight packs are available with about twice the energy density of lead acid and capacities of up to 10Ah. They tend to maintain their voltage higher as they discharge too. A 1lb reduction on battery weight is us...

Hi Stuart,

I have tried a number of switches and am struggling to find one that is of good quality and has a fairly light action. Do you have a part number that you suggest?

PTT Switches

As ever I though that I'd ask here before I go shopping. Does anyone have two PTT switches looking for a home?

Thanks for the contacts.

I have spoken to Velas and Sarah at Sky4, neither had templates but Sarah is willing to measure it up. I just spoke to Michael at Cambrai, he has already got templates for the aircraft.

Aircraft Covers

Am wondering who supplies aircraft covers that people might recommend? They are for a Taylorcraft. I have found Cambrai who list a cockpit cover but not wing covers. I have put a wanted ad on the forum for Auster/Taylorcraft wing covers just in case anyone has some going spare as am pretty sure Aust...

Wing Covers Wanted - Taylorcraft/Auster

I thought it might be worth asking here in case anyone knows of any for sale. I want them for a Taylorcraft but given their family ties I am pretty sure that a set designed for an Auster would fit.

Rob,

I don't know how relevant it, is but I just checked the Taylorcraft wing tank cap which has a curved vent pipe in the centre. That is 1/4" od - approx 3/16" id.
