Re: Oil filters

Thanks but since found out that this will not be applicable on our engine anyway, thought I had deleted this but it appears not.

Oil filters

IIRC on a previous aircraft with a Continental O200 we used an automotive oil filter, we are now operating with a Lycoming O360 and was looking for any advice on doing the same here?

Re: Which Aircraft

Depends if you want sole ownership or happy to share, we have members your size in our RV7 group, for 20K you could do a 1/4 share in an RV7/8 or a 1/3 in a 4/6 which would give you a good standard nice performing aircraft.

Nav radio for IFR

Ready the requirements it says If a navigation radio is fitted, and the primary display of navigation guidance is via a single complex instrument, a secondary display of guidance information shall be provided. If there are other means of Nav guidance is by GPS presumably you do not then need a back ...

Re: IMC in LAA?

If 50 aircraft are cleared there will be 50 very happy LAA members Actually many more happy members than that as many will be group aircraft, ours for example is a group of 7 and there will be larger groups than that, not sure what the average is but you can probably at least tripple the members fo...

Re: Anyone already cleared for IFR?

Looked at that but how suitable is it as a backup as it does not seem to have a backup battery?

Re: Anyone already cleared for IFR?

Not really, there you have a vac gyro, looking for what people are doing without a vac system.

Anyone already cleared for IFR?

Just wondering what your setup is especially for back up roll indication if you do not have a vacuum system.

Re: Grey Aviation

Is this an opportunity to maybe have a few "meeters and greeters" at the rally who would work as intermediaries for those that do not know anyone, otherwise, maybe some sort of stick on badge with first name and aircraft type, as least this gives people a starting point for a conversation, those tha...

Re: Grey Aviation

The question AIUI was "what will attract young people", I was answering that, not saying how easy it would be or who would organise it and I do realise these things are not that simple, but to me an aviation event should involve more things going on in the air than just aircraft arriving and departi...

Re: Grey Aviation

I was not there this year but in the past have thought there should be more going on in the air, yes it is a rally, but how about things like a Vintage fly past and some sort of basic aeros comp (there was an RV comp this year and the Rally would have been an ideal place for that), spot landing comp...

Why we need Insrument clearance

Looked out this evening to cloud base at around 2,000' and breaks showing a glorious sky on top of cloud that was probably only 500' thick, it would have been the perfect evening to shoot up on top, turn the aircraft upside down a few times, enjoy the sight and descend back down before sunset - no r...

Re: Good Deals!

For anyone after a PLB the McMurdo Fastfind 220 was £175 with these guys http://www.marinesuperstore.com
Rather than over £220 with the aviation suppliers!

Re: EASA Part NCO and Carriage of PLB and ELT Equipment

Needing one for flying abroad we have just bought one for our group - saved over £50 buying from a marine supplier rather than an aviation one! :D
