Strut Gathering at Eshott, for the 2012 Great North Fly In organised by Northern Aviators, was well attended.
An excellent day out. Loads of LAA Today magazines were distributed from the NE Struts info display. Many thanks to John Gregson for helping and providing the expertise needed for the information point.

PROPELLOR MAKING Skill Sharing Session Presented by John Rogerson Was a huge success & the Bar-B-Q with Best Bisson & Venison Burgers & ‘all trimmings’ prepared by Judy was a superb spread enjoyed by everyone. An added bonus for participants was a chance to explore John’s almost completed Spitfire.

Stewart said “Seeing the Spitfire was amazing, and I loved the prop carving session.
I'm even more determined to start building my own aircraft now”,

Alan said “It has inspired me enormously, I've been researching small engines to marry up with a small prop, John has a real gift for explaining things in a simple way and of giving us the thirst to try it ourselves which made the afternoon for me, not to mention the spitfire! “

Ed Iters comment – John has made quite a few wooden props over the years for his aircraft as laminating & carving your own is a good way of making flying affordable.
Our thanks to John for sharing his knowledge and skills with strut members.
If any one in LAA is interested in learning the tricks of the trade in a repeat session let us know as there may be a follow up next year with a different pitch prop,

A reasonable amount of support to objections is being sent from aviators covering the threat to flying activities including one representing NEstrut members.
Additional local environment etc objections from Cleveland residents who might not know yet may help. The 140mtr high Turbines will be seen and heard from the A174 and surrounding countryside towns and villages! Do you have any friends there willing to object!!

NEStrut informal Gathering Sunday Sept 17th at Fishburnis confirmed.
However, The new proprietors of the Aviator Bistro are not installed yet so basic café facilities prevail.
Ie. Tea and coffee, perhaps not Brunch but Famous Bacon Butties may be back so could have a Munch at Morgans Field as it used to be known as when NEStrut started 45 years ago.

Next Gathering confirmed for Sunday 15th July 2018 at Fishburn Airfield From 11.30 to 1.30 ish.
Like when the strut started in 1973 our informal Gatherings are now regularly on the Third Sunday of each month around mid-day (unless otherwise advised.)
Meeting in the public Aviator café is a bit different to our clubhouse days but dose have some benefits - We don’t have to serve ourselves and wash up & the new proprietor is installing a bar so may be able to buy a pint instead of tea soon if not driving/flying.
Please put it in your diaries for a monthly brunch date with your friends.
Remember - PRIZE DRAW
Please Sign into Strut section to show support & enter 1pm Spitfire ale draw!

Stan and Dave won the spitfire ale draw last month.
