Young Aviators Day

Post by John Dean » Sun Oct 12, 2008 10:58 am

Mid Kent are holding a Young Aviators Day on Saturday 18th October at Rochester Airport in Kent and have about 35 young people to fly.

We already have a number of volunteers with their aircraft for this very worthwhile event but would welcome a few more members with their aircraft to spread the load. In order to take advantage of the generous offer of free landings at Rochester by the airport management, we are required to let them have registration details in advance.

If you feel you could help us, please send me a PM.

An enjoyable day was had by all. The weather was very kind to us with just a few fluffy white clouds in an otherwise blue sky. The wind was light and straight down the runway and there was no turbulence!

We flew 34 youngsters in 16 aeroplanes and were finished by just after lunchtime. Many thanks to all those pilots who gave their time freely but a particular thanks to Shirley Hammond and Steve Jubb who kept the paperwork in order. Thanks must also go to the management at Rochester Airport who generously agreed to waive their landing fees to the participating aircraft.
