East Midlands LAA Strut Mar 2023 Meeting

The next meeting of the East Midlands LAA Strut will be on Tuesday 7th March via Zoom, starting 7:30pm with the presentation starting at 8:00pm.

This month, we have a presentation by Will Hosie who is leading a team building a replica of the Supermarine S5 aircraft that won the Schneider Trophy in the race in 1927. As a number of Strut members are or have been involved in rebuilds or building replicas, I am sure that it will be a very interesting evening. Those involved in the rebuild of Amy Johnson and Jim Mollison's DH88 Comet Racer Black Magic may be interested to know that Will's late father Bill Hoise was a former custodian of the aircraft.

The Supermarine S6b, the final iteration of the Supermarine series of racing aircraft, won the Schneider Trophy permanently for Great Britain in 1931, and the experience of designing and operating racing aircraft with powerful engines paved the way for the Supermarine Spitfire.
