T6 Ali sheet

Post by Hap Hazard » Thu Dec 21, 2023 3:04 pm

Hi Guys and Gals,

After many years of being away from ‘little’ aeroplanes, I have found myself full-circle and have once again rejojned the weird and whacky world of homebuilts! With burning enthusiasm I am looking forward to getting all the paperwork out the way and getting my little pocket-rocket back where it belongs, upstairs….

As the old joke goes about the CAA (Committee Against Aviation), equally material costs act as a sobering counterweight to enthusiasm, especially in this post-Covid era where gold looks to be a cheaper option in some cases! LOL….

So I will keep this short, apart from the 2 aviation main suppliers in the UK, who uses who in terms of supply of T6 aluminium sheet?

I need to buy something around 600x1000 mm x 0.035 thick (about 21 guage) for a new seat pan.

Cheers,
HH

T6 is a temper not a grade of aluminium alloy.

Actually the T3 temper is used commonly for aircraft panels which is a different aging process but still a high strength. Vans aircraft typically use 2024T3 grade sheets for their pre-punched panels.

As that's an American grade specification it's not commonly held by UK stockholders. You could try an importer like https://en-british.desertcart.com/products/609355796 or order direct from a US supplier.

LAS have a limited stock of sizes and thicknesses https://www.lasaero.com/products/article/R02LALMB9
