SEP / Microlights

Post by neilld » Fri Oct 10, 2014 5:56 pm

Where aircraft are available in either the SEP or Microlight category (e.g. Avid, Kitfox, C42, Shadow Eurostar etc.) Can the MIcrolight version be registered as an SEP assuming that any required modifications can be carried out and approved (e.g. electric fuel pump on Eurostar)?
Presumably, since both categories are available, the design codes for both have been met?

Hi Neil, certainly some of these aircraft can swap from microlight to SEP and vice verca, Eurostar and Jabiru are two that come to mind which can with very minimal change. If you have a specific question about such a type you are best off calling LAA Engineering to discuss it with them as it will be they who will ultimately say yay or nay.
