Copy of article in May/June 1970 copy of PF
I have a file note that
'May/June 1970 issue of Popular Flying reported tests on a Jodel D9 fitted with a trailing static where it was found that the ASI under-read by 12 knots at the stall at a true 35 knots, with the position error of the pitot reducing to zero at 100 knots. '
But I have lost my original copy of the May/June 1970 PF.
I would be very glad indeed to obtain a copy of the article if anyone could make it for me.
Thanks in anticipation
Richard

I have a copy of the July/August 1977 beside me, in which, the flight test report by Air Commodore Paul states that - "...........the aircraft continued to fly quite happily, until at 22 knots indicated (yes 22 knots) the nose dropped..............the position error at this angle of attack being 17 knots"

Bill, thanks for that but I already have the Air Commodore Paul flight test report.
From memory, the May/June 1970 PF article has a graph showing the error in ASI across the speed range.
I am not so much interested in the stalling speed per se but rather more interested in the calibration method using a trailing static.

The article is by Derek Piggot. A second instrument was mounted and connected to the static on a trailing bomb which was towed behind and below the aircraft in undisturbed air flow.
If you want a copy of the article I can scan and send.
