Gents,

The Great North Fly In is happening at Eshott Airfield this weekend. David
Tremayne is bringing his jet powered car which he hopes to break the British
Land Speed Record with. Not this weekend I hasten to add!

When you land can you report to the control tower and book in. You will be
invited to make a donation of your choice to Help For Heroes in the bucket
provided.

The Spitfire is going to appear at 1510hrs on the Saturday and will most likely
be followed by the Starduster doing a fly by.
Try not to arrive then and if you
do stay orbiting about 4 miles away as the Spit needs 2 miles clearance, or he
will depart without doing his stuff. Listen in on the radio so you know what is
happening.

We hope to have a variety of vehicles both military and otherwise which will be
parked on the airfield. All visitors should park on the disused A1 Layby or the
field at the top of 01. If we have an overflow then they will be brought onto
the airfield as well. This will be controlled by Morpeth Air Cadets and
Newcastle Aviation School. Disabled/Elderley parking will be in the main car
park or as directed by the Air Cadets.

We will have plenty of AVGAS and fuel runs for MOGAS will also be arranged. On
the Saturday try and get your MOGAS before 5pm as after that then it will be a
longer trip down to the Jet Garage at Morpeth which is further away. The garage
is also open on Sunday however.

We will keep the BBQ going throughout the weekend and for those staying
overnight can you please order your breakfast with the BBQ staff for Sunday
morning.

We will publish a programme of events on a notice board at the gate next to the
clubhouse.

The bar will be open at a reasonable time. This will be staffed by Junior NCO's
from 202 Squadron from RAF Boulmer. We will be expecting the Sea King to attend
also unless it is called out. The live band will again be provided by Dave Hume
(all of whom are doing this for no charge as last year, so buy them a beer!)

When you use the entry gate to the airfield there will be an air cadet handing
out safety leaflets to visitors. You lot will not need one! So please identify
yourself to them as a pilot.

The flight Simulators will probably charge a small fee to cover their fuel costs
coming from RAF Millom. Apparently they are a lot of fun!

There will be various other bits of kit including Cockpits etc and a historical
display of RAF Eshott.

Camping- please pitch you tents later in the day in a suitable area. There will
be toilet facilities next to the clubhouse.

Can local flyers consider donating something to the raffle/auction if possible and find
Derek McCabe who is running this on your arrival. It can be a funny or anything
you can think of that may be suitable.

We have about 300 bods registered to attend so far and this will grow by Friday.
The marquee is now up.

This should be a fun event, and that is what it is all about, so hope to see you
all there whatever craft you fly in! I may add further updates as and when. If
you intend to come can you please register on the website
http://www.greatnorthflyin.co.uk/ as this helps us to plan for numbers/feeding
etc.

See you all there!!
