NOW FULLY BOOKED

To comply with CAA Rules we are limited to a maximum of 100 aircraft. We now have that many booked in. Please don't turn up on the off chance, we won't be able to let you land.

May 1st, overnight camping possible on Saturday night. No slot times but prior booking essential as we need evidence of Crown Indemnity cover for the aerodrome operator.

Mike,
thanks for the info, hope the weather will be good and we can visit after a busy day at Popham!
I know of several people who are interested to visit the fly-in by road, will there be arrangements for visitors by road?

thanks

Nigel

Hi Nigel

Contact for anything to do with the fly-in is Peter Bentley

Lee has 24 Hr Security with a manned gatehouse and access to the Gliding Clibhouse, where the activity will be based entails crossing the active runway and driving along an active taxiway. There will probably be no problem but it is likely that there will be a requirement for visitors to be escorted between the gate and the clubhouse to ensure safety. If you liaise with Peter he may well be able to set up volunteers to do the escorting.

Thanks again to the organisers for a nice event, everything seemed to work very well and we had a very friendly reception at Lee. Just a pity the weather to get there hadnt been better! But at Lee they managed to have no rain all day. We delayed our visit when meeting people at Popham who had come back and said a big storm was approaching there from the west and they only just got out- but it apparently never got to Lee.
Seems like a really great airfield asset to have, lets hope it can be kept open for GA for good and more accessable in the future. Looking forward to another fly-in there, lots of parking space, could hold a lot bigger event!

Glad you enjoyed it Nigel. I believe we had 47 visitors, about half of the number who had booked in. We were all very chuffed that it went so smoothly. Some pics here.

There is as you say plenty of room but we're feeling our way at the moment.

Mixed ownership of the site does not help. You were actually parked on land belonging to South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) but the runway and central area is owned by DfT and leased to Hampshire Police.

Another Nigel was unable to attend in his Luscombe as he was working but he did call up from the office while overhead to ask if we could accommodate a 757 with 230 pax for tea and cakes.
