South Coast Flyin at Deanland

We are organising a fly-in on the 8th of June at Deanland EGKL. Deanland is a 450m undulating grass strip at the foot of the south downs, not far east of Shoreham. It would be great if a flock of LAA aircraft could attend.

Deanland does not usually actively encourage visitors, but for this one day of the year we are open to everyone... albeit with a limited number of slots available.

Landing is £10 which includes free BBQ food and a drink. It’s a proper oil drum barbeque featuring top quality locally produced butcher’s sausages and burgers.

The 8th June is just 2 days after the anniversary of the D-Day landings in 1944, and Deanland was an Advanced Landing Ground, so this is also a tongue in cheek 69th birthday celebration to mark the occasion. Please feel free to show us your best 'advanced landing techniques', we will have the locally based pilots observing during the day and there might just be a prize for the nicest one.

PPR required in advance by telephone, even if it’s the same morning, and you will be forwarded the sheet of arrival and departure information which on this day only, will be slightly different than the usual deanland joining instructions.
There is no fuel at Deanland, so please plan your flight accordingly.

Information is on the website at http://www.deanland-airfield.co.uk

I am shamelessly bumping this thread, to see if we can get a few more aircraft. Our limit is 50 aircraft, and our target was 30 to make it a great day. We now have 30 PPR's…. a good mix of Group A, Microlights and Vintage. We'd love some more! Deanland is a fantastic 450m grass undulating strip, a little challenging, and very rewarding. Come and join us for a proper BBQ with some top-quality local butchers sausages and burgers. Landing fee, which includes food for 2, just £10. The wives will be going baking crazy the day before, we'll be filling a whole table with cake.

So far, the aircraft types attending are:

Pietenpol Aircamper
Jodel D119
PA28
1954 Supercub
Aeronica Champ
