I see fly-ins as an excuse to fly somewhere new, so would favour somewhere different to "the usual" events.

Buddying up with an existing fly in would not really help the BB “identity”. The event last year was fun, and it would be good to repeat it. Keep the suggestions coming and I will pick out a selection next week and we can have a vote. Alternatively if someone else wishes to co-ordinate then that is fine with me!

How about Little Rissington, now it's available for GA again?

Reasonably central (although perhaps a bit further S than ideal), and likely to be a new destination for most people - which would deal with the "Same old place" syndrome alluded to earlier.

Do they have any restrictions on movements, I wonder?

For a spot a bit farther north I'll second Fishburn. A pretty run up the east coast for we southeners. Nice lady owner. Good prices on Fuel. No cafe but lot's of space for burning our own grub and no neighbours I could see to upset. Lovely sense of humour amongst residents. Wear your high viz and they will probably give you a shovel.

I thought Fishburn had sensitive neighbours to the south of the field & hence the need for all circuits to be to the north. Agree it's a nice place.

What do you mean "No Cafe" at Fishburn, the bacon buttys are great, I think they have a small selection of other food and drinks.
Very friendly ever time Ive visited.

We flew back starving. No sign of calories, a menu or anything I would describe as a cafe when we were there May last year. Unless you consider a cup of tea as light refreshments. I remember a small hut that was all.

Good pub/restaurant about a mile up the road if people wanted to stay overnight.

Question.."Do people have to be current paid up members of the LAA to come to a BB fly-in ?"
Answer.."only if they come in a (PFA) LAA type".

I also think Fishburn would be an excellent venue. We flew as a group over in November from Ireland, over-nighted in the town of Sedgefield.... really nice place and Beryl, the airfield owner is great. Would also catch some of us Irish Chaps if the weather window behaved itself.

Brian has got us in the Mag, so I will leave it a week and then post a poll.

I think some of us try to get to as many as possible anyway. The original suggestion was for a specific BB fly-in and Deanland got quite popular for a bit. If it's possible to arrange for a date before the main seasonal events get going, why not call that the BB fly-in and see what happens? Fishburn would be a new venue for me so I'd vote for either or both...can I do that?

It doesn't prevent us from cornering bits of other fly-ins, but the idea of a separate one has a certain charm...
Funny how at this time of year one plans anything and everything with such enthusiasm and anticipation. If we are going to get another June like the last one, can we have it now please?

Please forgive the daft question, but is the Fishburn referred to above the place roughly halfway between Middlesborough and Darlington?

If so, that could work for me as I have friends in Middlesborough I could see at the same time :) (I'd be driving, no PPL and half an aeroplane at the moment  )
