Coils for use with Leburg ignition

Post by JohnLindsay » Sat Aug 07, 2010 12:39 pm

When I bought my Leburg system in 2008 from David Mickleburgh, he recommended that I use 4 Honda CBR 600 ignition coils in place of the 2 Ford Visteon or Zetec coils to reduce the total weight and he supplied a wiring loom to suit the Honda coils.

I am about to submit the MOD 2 & 3 Forms for the Leburg system and I wonder if anyone has already obtained the LAA's agreement to use the Honda coils with a Leburg installation. If they have and if I might refer to their LAA approval, it could help to speed up the processing of my application.

Any help most gratefully received.

John Lindsay.

Hi John.

Dave Mickleburgh's Sparrow had Honda coils from what he told me. He suggested them to me as I'm a bikey type, but I particularly wanted new kit for the essential bits, and 2 new Ford Fiesta coils were cheaper than 4 new Honda CBR600 ones.

Presumably the paperwork LAA Engineering hold for the Sparrow will contain the necessary info about the alternative coils.

Many thanks, Rob.

That's just the sort of precedent I am looking for.

John.
