Aircraft Wiring / Electrical Book

Post by Gavin Bell » Thu Sep 09, 2010 9:10 pm

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good book that covers aircraft electrics.
I am after a good point of reference for tasks such as wiring instruments, lights, radio etc. Something that covers material selection.
How to make installations to reduce possibility of RF interference etc etc

Thanks

Gavin

The book you need is: 'AeroElectric Connection' by Bob Nuckolds. This is the recognised electrical bible for homebuilders.
Don't know if the LAA bookshop stocks it but if you Google it I am sure you will find a supplier

Crikey Alan, I didn't realise your French was so good, if you just master the accent I think you'll go far.

I think you can do a "hands on" LAA course on aircraft electrics.

You could do a lot worse than go on one of the LAA wiring courses this winter.

The dates have just been announced: http://www.lightaircraftassociation.co. ... urses.html

I did the course during the 2008/2009 winter and rewired the RV last spring. I can heartily recommend it. Mark demystifies the whole process of wires, currents and voltages brilliantly.

I'll vouch for the previously recommended Bob Nuckolls book as a very good source of information too.

Bill beat me to the recommendation by a minute!

The wiring course is less "hands-on", more classroom based with lots of real-world props and examples, but still very much aimed at the practicalities of actually putting wires in permit aircraft.

Hi Gents,

Thanks for the pointers. Have downloaded the book, free of charge and have booked myself onto one of the October aircraft electrics courses.

Cheers
