Homebuilt Custom Electronics

Post by Jay Campbell » Mon Apr 01, 2013 8:18 pm

Hi there!

Having worked in the electronics industry for many years and having first worked many years ago as an electronics design engineer for military jets, I thought I would do a quick post to offer my services to any of my fellow LAA members.

So what sort of things can I do?

Recent projects include:

Repairs of Ray Allen RP3 indicator modules - why buy a new one when I can fix your old one - replacing every active component (including LED display, chips etc) it's as good as a new unit except for the plastic case and I can get it back to you within a few days. You get a completely perfect unit without having to pay for a new one and waiting for it to come from the U.S. - plus save your money so you can spend it flying!

---

Touchscreen module for displaying checklists etc in your instrument panel. Not only do you get a custom screen with your own aircraft picture as welcome screen, but it also can connect to your headset/intercom system to give you full audio checklists ! This could be customised to display warnings (stall / fuel tank change reminders) etc with very little effort.

Like I say I have a normal job so this isn't being done as a business or to make money for shareholders! It's just because I like to help out other folks that maybe can't sort out electronics themselves. From personal experience something that should be fairly priced seems to instantly tripled in cost when you mention you need it doing for your plane ! Other people help me with things I'm not great with so it's just returning the favour !

I'm not doing this for a job so can't travel the whole country .... But if you need some support or any custom projects making up then drop me an email!

Cheers,

Jay
