seat belts for a jodel 112

Post by Mick Bevan » Wed Jun 05, 2013 10:44 pm

Hi all,
Can anyone suggest a suitable type/model/brand of seat belt for a D 112, that has an automotive inertial reel. The whole assembly is a car-type, lap and shoulder strap set-up.

regards
Mick

Mick, in the absence of any other replies, I'll offer that an inertia reel system from a Japanese car (possibly a Nissan) was salvaged from a scrap yard and fitted to a D112 at Watchford Farm about 10 years ago. I'll ask the chap who did it if he remembers the source. You might also get a response from the Yahoo Jodel forum.

Thanks, Mike
I had considered a car-type but I wanted to see what "official" belt type was fitted to Jodels. I'll get a car set.

Can't remember the name off hand but the car rally industry do a good job. I fitted sets of 4 point quick release harness to my Emeraude. I don't fancy the idea of inertia reels having witnessed two incidents of upside down "arrivals" that would have resulted in decapitation without decent harness.

Other factors against inertia reels are they are often quite bulky (in aircraft terms) and very heavy.
