Duralac Banned?

Post by Ian Melville » Sun Apr 27, 2014 8:25 am

I have heard through another builder that his inspector has told him the Duralac is banned from use by the LAA.

It's horrible stuff and gets everywhere, but banned? I wouldn't recommend it for rivets and flayed edges that are to receive an outer paint job, but was not aware of any issues as such.

It sounds to me a bit like Chinese whispers, can anyone shed any light on this?

Cheers
Ian

Hi Ian, Duralac has not been banned by the LAA and, to the best of our knowledge, has not been banned by HSE or anybody else. As with all chemical substances, guidance advice should be heeded and care taken.

Thanks Brian, much as I thought. I wonder who in this chain is talking BS?
