Hi Dave,
Just a line to let you know i have received the manual it is brilliant dealing with invecta aviation services no problems!
is there anybody on here who uses these engines as i am interested in there realibility and performance and problems obtaing the spares for this engine or do i have to go back to invecta!! i understand there was the 1800.and the 1600 and i have had problems even trying to find the H.P on these engines! and finding information on the engine is even worse still !! I got the manual from invecta aviation services with no problems helpful chap (DAVE) are the spares as easy to obtain??
regards G.

Out of interest, what aircraft would this EA81 be used on ?
I have flown behind an EA81, and it was fine. The oddity was, it had a freewheel clutch on the prop drive, which isn't the best idea in the world

Hi David,
At present the aicraft its on is a gyrocopter 2 place the engine is running fine i am just trying to get some feedback on the ins and outs of this motor for parts, rpm, realiablity,i know there is a 1600 and the Ea81 1800 no info on the EA81 just received a manual from invecta air services on this as to the HP? not stated! turbo and non turbo! 1600&1800
I have a Q.C.challenger II with the rotax 582 and there is plenty of info for the rotax but not much info for the subaru EA81 even though i understand this is made for the aircraft ind,I am trying to get the Gyrocopter back flying legaly and i am needing to know how good this engine is (or isn"t)as i will be stripping this gyrocopter totally and trying to obtain all the nessasary paperwork from the begining again as this is a long term project and i know i can fly this aircraft as long as it is not in UK airspace but i am going to do this by the book! so time is not an isue! as i will be flying the Q.C.CHII and working on the gyrocopter at my lesure!
regards G.

EA81 subaru
Hi Chris,
i got a manual for the subaru EA81 what an engine this is!! i have at present got the Q.C. challenger with the rotax 582 i thought this had power but wow!!
All i can say is what a motor the EA81 is, this is on a 2 seater gyrocopter! with a 3 bladed 60inch adj prop the engine starts on a spin of the prop with no problems like a swiss watch, at present i am draining and rinsing out the old fuel, the chap i bought her from was adding the Lead and Octane booster and i wanted to drain the tank as i had to drain all the petrol from the aircraft to get this gyrocopter onto the ferry (Security) there was a film in the water seperator so i decided to drain the job lot when i got her home! next job carb strip and clean! i think once cleaned the 81 would go like a rocket (1800CC) or 100HP if you need help with the engine ie workshop manual give dave an email nice guy! keep in touch let me know how you get on with the engine and the aircamper!!
thanks chris!

subaru 1800
Hi Welshman,
Thanks for the offer of the manual but i have got the compleate EA 81 in A4 size from invecta air services the 1800 4 CYL Which was passed onto me by dave above nice chap!
So far it needs the carbs cleaning and some fuel lines replacing! but it runs very good (there is some power there)i will check the timing renew the plugs and get the motor back to a good standard!
I am now looking at what is needed to get this gyrocopter up for a permitt it looks like i need another manual for all the red tape and the negatives i am getting looks like no one is interested in helping or pointing you in the right direction!!
